Never had an Iphone.

Never stood in line at 7.00 like a sheep on release day to be rushed into signing a contract I haven't had time to read by a sales person with a Genius tag either.

Don't like to be dictated to by the manufacturer of a device that seems to override the networks or 3rd parties who usually sell the handsets, thereby obscuring the normal SOGA contracts.

I prefer handsets that don't have a history of recalls in the USA with the States' lemon laws.

Never felt the need to spend £000's replacing perfectly functioning equipment the minute the next version is released.

Don't like to be tied in to one manufacturer's software / file proprietary formats.

As a result, sorry I can't be of any help.
To be honest most of those points could be levelled at all the phone makers in one way or another...

The only other times I have seen such queuing is when other half goes to Next sales at half past yesterday in the morning or when Ms Rowling penned another Harry Potter book.

And no one else other than Apple dictates to the networks and resellers in the way that they do.

And is the Itunes format not proprietary?

Nor does any other reseller embarrass its employees so visibly by naming them "Geniuses".

Apart from that, I concede your point.

So you would prefer the Networks to be dicating to the manufacturers how the phone should be configured and hence adding unnecessary branding and gimmics to what was a good phone?

and came back and said "When you get an unlocked replacement handset whenever you change the SIM card you have to connect to iTunes and it's (hidden) in the Terms & Conditions."

This is complete BS i have a replacement unlocked iphone 4 and never have to do this, i switch sims between orange, Three, T Mobile (usa) and Vodafone (spain)

Unless the T&C are different for factory unlocked phones purchased from Apple and ones that are officially unlocked later on during a contract, which is what mine was as it was originally locked to orange, which they unlocked, then i replaced it 3 months later due to a few issues

That does not follow from my posts and, obviously, I don't want or support that. Anyone can buy unbranded, unlocked and, therefore, untampered phones from the likes of CPW.

What I was referring to was Apple's control over pricing and servicing that Apple exert over resellers and networks. Their philosophy and business model is one of arrogance and superiority and, unlike Google or even Microsoft, operate a far more protectionist regime, not only on handsets, but all of their hardware products.

I also note from other posts that Apple's attitude to warranty is that they do give a generous 1 year warranty but don't want to know after that, despite European laws that guarantee UK citizens' rights under SOGA and Eurpoean law itself. They seem to put themselves above the law.

This is exactly what I said. The T&C's are different. The 'Genius' said "if you buy an unlocked handset and it has to be replaced then the replacement handset will need to be connected to iTunes whenever you swap SIM cards. It's in the T&C's you sign when you have your handset replaced."
