Virgin Media Network Password Problem

I've recently bought a new laptop but when i try to connect to my Virgin wireless broadband I'm getting a prompt to add my network security password - but have no idea what it is
I've rung virgin (aka hopeless helpdesk) who told me that my password would be on my welcome letter - from 3 years ago! As I've only had the PC I'd been using it connected up via the wires so never needed it.
Anyone able to help? Please don't make me have to listen to Virgin hold music again, don't think i can handle a second dose today or ever!

Is it on a sticker on the back of your mode/router?0

if you want wifi on your laptop, you need to get the passwork from the router.
in the address bar on IE type in 192.168.1.1 ( if its a standard hub )
then on the left hand side it will say wireless settings ( or similar, i am trying to remeber this from memory )
click wireless settings and i think there are a few boxes a, b, c, d, and codes in them, type the identical code to a, into the laptop and it should allow you wifi.
Please correct me if i am wrong but dont be rude, like i say im trying to remember from memory.0 -

I'm a sad pandashiny new lappy which i can't use!
I do not know how to set up a WEP, so i am no help here, i think if you try and set up a new network on your laptop you can make your own WEP key code - i think.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Assuming your on virgin with a netgear router - Type 192.168.1.1 into a connected puter and add virgin as name and password as password, then change the name under SSID to something different, then add a different password at the bottom (passphase)
When you search for the network on work lappy under the new name & enter the new password you've just created.
PHEW........Make sense? Hope it works for you0 -
