Called last night and got through in about 5 seconds.
The lady in questions system appeared ot be just fine.

I Only needed to speak to someone as the automated bit for putting in your meter reading kept cutting me off mind.

It appears as others have said it depends on what phone number you dial in on.

I suspect their PBX or whatever clever call routing software they use is up the spout and some numbers are swamped where as others have nobody on them at all / jump massive queues.

As part of liaison with EDF, I pointed out that their phone system wasn't working. Not only did it take yonks to get through but you had to carefully speak your account number into the system.

Finally, when you got through, the advisor would ask you for your account number . But I just gave it to get through.

Oh that part of the system isn't working yet.

Well why don't you simply switch it off. Simple ?

Nah,it's still the same, but you can pretend you haven't got the number to avoid the pointless exercise.:o

EDF are still not accepting calls from their customers, I think you could die of old age waiting for someone to answer.!!!

    They're absolutely useless.

Anyone tried an online chat at EDFenergy.com?
If you make as if you're getting a quote, then the online chat option will appear and (in my case) he answered darn quick and was most polite and helpful :)

    Eastie,

I have had exactly the same problem as you since I switched banks back in March. The DD was not taken over by the new bank and EDF just cannot set up a new DD for me.

I've been waiting since April for them to sort it out, they have my bank details but don't seem to be bothered that I haven't paid any money.

I've made numerous telephone calls, 5 complaint emails and finally said I want to leave but have they taken any notice? No.

I've given up and am leaving the DD money in my savings account till they sort themselves out!

It's worth the wait though. When you finally get through, you get a really sexy voice,

'Now listen very carefully, I will say this only once.'

    :D
  • As an (ex) serial switcher I think I've been with all of the Big 6 at some stage but EDF are by far the worst I've dealt with - unbelievably inefficient, they never answer the bloody phone, the online account system is an absolute POS. I eventually switched to Fixed V2 after originally going for the Fix 2014 but TBH I'm probably going to take the hit and switch away as they are just useless.
  • i used teh number

    0800 051 1906

and got through quite quickly to talk to someone ; who did apologise as they are recieving a huge amount of calls since the scottish power announcement

They answered this number within 2 rings - thank you! I had spent over an hour holding prior to this.

I've not got an answer on any of the 8 occassions I called in the last month. I was mega P'd off when the casually sent an estimated bill stating they would be taking £346 out my bank in April and increasing my DD from £73 to £143 per month.

I hate call centres and despite having one of the worst experiences of incompetence with BT a few years back, EDF aren't necessarily incompetent, just totally ignorant.

I'm moving on and wont make the mistake of contracting EDF ever again.
