The reason LCD's crack and is more common on the large screens is the weight of the screen it flexes and breaks. For this to happen you need to have the screen flat on its front or back.
Sony wont repair it as for that to happen you have gone against all recomendations for moving the screen. Hopfully you have accidental damage cover on your house insurance, if not get it leave it for a few months and break your TV.
BTW it does actually take quite a bit of force to break an LCD screen but it hapens easier on the larger ones.0

Premiums only ever go up when they reevaluate your postcode area, well thats what they always tell me, they are forever reevaluating post codes the whole of greater manchester is the top level so now they shouldnt go up any more. I have never yet made a claim on accidental damage cover even when the shelf holding up my dvd player, amp, cd player, MD player, video and digital box fall off the wall we got home and thought we had been burgled chunks taken out of the TV case and the cupboard the TV sits on and the cd player now sounds a little fuzzy at the top end.0
