Market picking up? (seems to be in Glasgow anyway!)

The seller had basically tried to cover up an extensive damp problem, but it had been so bad it seeped through the new plaster, only out of pocket the survey cost, so not too bad.
The "£60k" bump I refer to is something I noticed, we seen a number of houses for sale in the area that I know are ex-local authority priced at £75k-£100k and when you check Zoopla/RM for the prices sold, you see that they have bought from the council for £14-40k and as soon as the 3yr live-in clause is up stick it on the market for £60k more than they paid. Don't get me wrong, making a profit is a good thing if you can, but having viewed some of them and read home reports, they are vastly over priced and I suspect EA's are helping prop up the expectation of this.0 -
Alirghty Bob,
We're selling up in the West, close to Kelvindale, looking to buy in the South side.
Leanne, sorry to hear about your purchasing problem - was it something that came up in the survey that had been missed in the home report? hope you didnt lose too much in the offering / surveying process. what do you mean about the 60k bump? is this an increase on selling price?
Did you just sell? I just bought a place at the top of Kelvindale! I wonder if it is yours0 -
Hi Bob, We are close to Kelvindale, but not in it, so it's not us sorry! hope that you're happy with your new pad anyway!0

Bah! Would have been a weird coincidence
Yeah am happy & settling in now.
The property market around us does seem to be moving more than elsewhere, unsure why.0 -
Wow that sounds pretty good in todays market!
I live in Cumbernauld (just outside of Glasgow for people who dont know!) and the market is pretty dead to be honest.0 -
I live in north Yorkshire. 1 letter from estate agent and one note through door asking if we are interested in selling in past month.
One of neighbours houses ( not at all like ours) sold recently for 25 per cent more than they paid in 2006 on 1st day bit went for sale. Market seems ok here.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
depends really on how much you've got and where you're looking in Glasgow to be honest. I'm currently looking to buy and there are loads of things appearing within my price range, but have been on the market for well over a year, if not two. The price keeps being dropped so either the places were incredibly overpriced in the first place of the folk are desperate to sell. As for the ex-council property scenario, it's all too common.0
