They shouldn't really be contacting the BR anyway as the debt is now under the control of the OR and nothing more to do with the BR.
Having said that, I agree it's useful to know who to contact during credit file clean up post discharge.;)When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Actualy all credit to them, this is the way that it is meant to be done, they tae the debt on, they notify everyone of the change, and they immeadiatly say that it is information only and not a demand for any type of payment, it contrasts sharply with the practices of many other debt companiesHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
OMG, I think MBNA might have just done the same to me. I had Experian trying to clean up my file (I paid for Credit Expert for one month) and asked them to get MBNA to update it as satisfied, etc and just before I cancelled my access I did one final update of my report and noticed that MBNA had completely disappeared off it. Searching the forum, someone indicated that if a creditors info goes missing off your CR it could be down to the selling it off and that the new creditors (debt collection agency) details will pop on up it shortly. Cut to today and I got an email off my ex-housemate (I moved recently and have only informed my current bank, employer, etc) saying there was a letter for me from Bridgewater Place, Leeds and after a quick google I see Eversheds are one of the tenants and a serach of them on here brought me to this thread. Grrhh. These companies are so fraking annoying and stupid. Surely its not difficult to flag an account up as BR and not sell these ones on. They probably do it just to p*ss people off.0

I have just been dealing with Evershed over a loan that was purchased by Max Recovery. I emailed them with the details they requested (to update my credit file) and they responded the next day to thank me and to say it was being taken care of. Up to now I have found them very professional and courteous.:pB&SC No. 298

Slightly off topic but is it possible to get Credit Expert to clean your file? Is this a special service that they offer? I thought I had to clean up my file myself...0 -

You do have to do it yourself.:pB&SC No. 298

Well, they can and sometimes will help.
Unfortunately, sometimes they are not much use either.
i.e. they say "we will contact the lender", they do that, the lender says "get lost, the data is correct", and Experian say "sorry. can't do any more".
And then you have to go through the process of doing it yourself from scratch anyway.
The other point is that if it comes to making a complaint via the ICO, they normally like to see that you have made attempts to contact the lender directly at some point to resolve the dispute. If you haven't, then they may refuse to deal with the complaint until you have gone through that process.
So basically, Experian/CreditExpert can sometimes help, but use that as a secondary/backup approach.
Make sure you also complain direct to the lenders, keeping the paper trail for proof should it come to involving the ICO.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It is worth sending them a letter anyway. You don't need to pay for the service: just send a letter with a copy of discharge notification. I did that and they updated the file, added notice of dispute on any accounts not showing as settled, and contacted all the creditors. They then sent me updates as they got replies from creditors. Most of them agreed to the changes. This is the letter I sent:CreditExpert

Dear Sir or Madam,
I enclose confirmation of my early discharge from bankruptcy. Please amend my file to reflect the fact that my bankruptcy is now discharged, and all debts are now satisfied.
Yours faithfully
etc

Yep. You don't have to be a member of a CRAs "premium/members" service in order to ask for things to be amended or disputed.
For default entries, you just need the reference number of a recent report from the CRA.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
