There was a driving license and a business card for the person named on the license, so I called the number on the card & aranged to meet the lady whose purse it was later on that afternoon. She hadn't even realised it was missing & she explained that she was going on holiday that evening and would of been lost without her bank and credit cards and being able to get replacements in time etc.
I didn't get a reward but more shockingly I didn't even get a thank you! It kind of made me wish that I had not been able to contact her before her hol.
yeah i guess you must have felt a bit peeved off but what goes around comes around. One day you'll lose something you desperately need and someone will pick it up and give it back to you.0 -
I love reading these kind of posts it restores my faith in humanity. There is so much doom and gloom everywhere that its nice to read something positive for a change.0

I joined a queue to use a cash machine one Saturday and when I stepped up to it, it started bleeping and asking me if I wanted to make another withdrawal. I hit the no button and a card popped out. I noticed the guy who had just walked away had a distinctive knitted aran jumper on and had gone into a nearby shop. I made my withdrawal and waited for him outside the shop. When he went to pass me I stopped him and asked him had he just used the machine and if so what was his name. He told me and it matched the name on the card. The look on his face was priceless when I handed over the card. He was well happy :T Made me feel really good!
Then another time I was leaving a supermarket and strewn on the floor by our car was about 5 credit cards (one hadn't been signed  ) and lots of store cards. I took them into the store and they asked me to leave my details. I never got a word of thanks from the owner. Someone less honest then me could have signed the unsigned card and easily used it.
Hey ho.....:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Years ago in Nairobi I found a travel diary in a storeroom used by overlanders at a campsite. I knew it was precious to the owner but I was travelling on to Zaire and the mail out of Africa is notoriously unreliable. So I kept it with me for several months until I got to somewhere I could post it safely and sent it home to my mother in England. I asked her to call the only contact in the diary, a phone number that turned out to be in Australia. From descriptions in the diary the link was made by the Australian parents to their travelling son, still somewhere on the road. My mum put it in the post to Australia and months later a grateful letter arrived from the son, now home and thrilled to have his lost diary back, the only record of the early part of his travels. Sometimes its just nice to be able to help out and not expect a reward.0

I found a phone last year, albeit a brick but obviously a childs as it had stickers all over it. It had no charge but was a Nokia and we had a charger at home so we brought it home and charged it. I then rang "mum" and told her we had the phone, my DS (then 3) was running around and singing at the time. They collected the phone the next day and brought DS a toy car. Didn't expect anything so was well chuffed ...

I saw someone leave about £70 in a cash point and walk off (I'd heard of this happening but never seen it before). I ran after him with the money. He was very grateful but I honestly didn't think of anything of it.
10mins later on the way to the pub I found £10 on the floor, kicked my heels together and thanked karma for my cosmic reward..
But was I wrong to keep it?0 -
I wouldn't worry about it. If you'd gone into the pub and shouted whose lost a tenner outside, every hand would have gone up lol0

Busy Saturday shopping, all I wanted to do was go home.
Whilst waiting for DD, I noticed we were a few minutes over our parking allowance in Tescos .This put me in a grumpy mood ( I know, I should have let it go).
Anyhow, rushing across the carpark I noticed a t-shirt on the floor complete with tag on it. Dilema ensued, should I stop and pick it up, or rush by and hope the parking attendant would be kind to me. I picked up the garment and put it on my dashboard.
On arriving at the exit I explained to the attendant that I had found it in the car park, and that it must have fallen out of someones shopping bag, and by the looks of it a harrased mum ( t-shirt was age 7-8).
By now we were 15 mins over our time. The attendant smiled and said he would pass it on to customer services and bade me a good day whilst waving me off! I was amazed, no penalty charge for over staying my alloted time. Karma or what.
Oh and a honest lesson to DD.0
