I found someone's handbag in the road we live in, took it home and we had a look to see if we could find any phone numbers.

We found the lady's mobile phone and managed to locate her home phone number.

My wife kept trying to call it and eventually left a message with her husband. He managed to contact her where she was. She hand't even realised she lost it.

The small box of quality streets were very well received by us.

    Nice thread.

For a returned Ipod, I would have certainly thought nothing of giving her flowers, and a drink (beer/wine) for him. Well worth it for the return of something that costs so much. Slip in a christmas card as well, wish them the best christmas they can have.

I found a teenagers mobile on the train a few years ago. I called the home number before they even realised it was missing. I arranged to meet the parents to return it. I was amazed by their gratitude, I just thought I was doing the right thing (it never occured to me to keep it). They were amazed that someone was honest enough to return it (the world can't be that bad can it?)

My 14 yr old son found a mobile worth about £100-£150, he looked for a home number which he called and the owner's dad came round to collect it with £10 for him.

It's nice to know that his first thought was to find the owner and return it and he was well chuffed to have a tenner given to him.

It's lovely to hear good news. People often discuss the negative about people but are very shy in discusing the positive. What a lovely thread.

P.S my husband has just had his £270 watch handed in at the swimming baths so there are lots of good people out there.

I once got a call from my bank advising me that someone had handed my debit card in which I had forgot in the machine after taking money out - I hadn't even noticed yet!

I repaid this good deed some time later by handing in an oystercard I found at Bank Tube Station.

I know someone who lost a phone in the street. It was found near a van and so that finder put it through the letter box of the van owner. The van owner contacted the person whose phone it was - so that was double lucky, two kind people in one go :)

*it was a bit of a brick though* :rotfl:

My son left his phone on a seat in Dalgety Bay, Fife and a lovely old couple took it home, rang him to report they had it and he collected it the next day:)

  • My fella lost his wallet containing cash, cards, personal stuff etc (and the wallet alone was worth £50). We thought that was the last we would see of it....but 2 days later he got a call from a guy who had found it. What a STAR!!! We offered him £20 as a 'thank you' but he refused. There ARE still a few decent people about :D
