Just got myself a Samsung ES65, am totally confused by these memory cards:oAs you probably already gathered I just want to take nice holiday pics, and I guess a video, sometime as the camera seems to take videos!! lol. Can someone advise me as to which card, 2G or more, Sd or SDHc???

Plus it has a rechargable battery which has just charged, took abt an hour, should I leave it charging first time longer like a mobile phone?:o

See what the book says, watch for a maximum size, possibly speed as well, no point getting a higher rated card if the camera cannot run it properly

    Their site has this

External memory: SD Card (up to 2GB guaranteed)

    MMC plus(up to 1GB guaranteed)

    SDHC (up to 8GB guaranteed)

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=EC-ES65ZZBPBGB&group=camera-camcorder&type=digital-cameras&subtype=compact

SDHC at 8GB will be better for video

Transcend is a reliable make, though check for prices

    Sandisk is fine

Check what it says about charging, some will only charge till full, which is OK, but not if it keeps charging

Number of cards depends on how many images against how long recording video. If you get a chance to take pictures and video before you go, you will see if one card is enough.

Don't forget to get a spare battery for it. Nothing worse than finding out your battery's flat when the right moment comes for a memorable shot.
Spare SD card wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just something like a 1GB card in case you fill the main one and don't want to mess about deleting images from it.

The other thing is to keep you card 100% usable you need to format the card once your pictures are saved on your PC (or at least fairly regularly). Just deleting them off the card (or camera) leaves a trace on the card which will soon become U/S.

    £4.20 on play.com.
May not be as good as the original, but fine as a reserve.

I'd use the official SD Formatter, as it'll get the most out of the flash memory compared to using the standard windows formatter:

It works on all flash memory, including USB flash drives. It can make a significant difference to the speed.
