M62 Hell - Any tips
I have been losing my mind travelling on the M62, and seem to have really bad luck of late.
I occassional travel from Sandbach (J17) to Leeds to Asda House, and no matter what time of day I seem to struggle. Tom Tom gives 1:15 mins but it takes at least 2:30 mins.. Friday it took 5:10 mins arrghhhh
Has anyone got any tips - I thought about the train but that goes to Manchester and is not a straight connection.
1) Usually have 10 a.m. meetings or 2 p.m.
2) Tried various A roads, but volume is just as about around Huddersfield / Brighouse
Appreciate any views as I am going mad with the situation.
Cheers,
Albert

you could try staying on the M6 to Preston then hitting the A59 through Skipton towards Leeds Bradford Airport.
I had to go to Leeds a few months ago in the morning and too the A59 route and it wasn't too busy.0 -
I live in West Yorkshire, and ANY of the roads in the morning, are a nightmare.
The train isn't a bad idea,as the Central Station in Leeds,is only 2 minutes away on foot,as you know.
Try the Trans Pennine express from Manchester airport.I'm not sure what it would cost you to park in the vicinity of the airport though, but a little detective work would soon sort that.

And I'm sure that with a bit of further research, you may be able to find a train discount code somewhere.
Hope this helps.

Albert, have you checked out thetrainline.com ?
it says the trip from sandbach to leeds has one simple change at piccadilly, leaving sandbach at 7.40 am, arriving leeds 9.52 am.
not sure on prices, but it easily beats the stress of the dreaded m62.Karma is a wonderful thing.

If you're sticking with the car ..... regret the M62 is the basic route. Your Satnav takes you that way, mine does the same .. as does the AA route planner.
Coming up to Preston and across the M65 to Colne is certainly a little lighter on the traffic - but the extra mileage negates the benefit. It's a seriously big dog leg!
Take the train. Or start making loud noises that both video and telephone conferencing have seriously come of age .... and you don't all need to be around the same table to have a meeting.
Telephone conferencing I've found to be really good. You don't get the distraction of looking at people on the other site(s), you can refer to papers on your own PC without having to print them off. You ideally need a speaker 'phone .. but an ordinary one will do if you don't mind changing ears now and again to prevent numbness setting in! And all meetings last only as long as the actual meeting .... no travelling .. and no commensurate business costs other than the small charge of going through a site that hooks you all together. And you can readily do that yourself if it's a facility you start to use a lot.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

.
unless you're getting paid the mileage. We get 50p a mile if we use our own car.0 -
Just wanted to say thank-you for all your views.
I think the best option is the train, after considering all your views - I just cannot stomach the M62 anymore!!
Thanks agian
