So I don't need to keep any part of the report or paperwork for the tax people. I thought I might have to keep the coversheet or some evidence of how much I was being paid or how much was reimbursement, how much fee. If I can throw everything except receipts then that will be better. Are yours in order or have you just thrown them in? Thanks0 -
i staple receipts and parking to each job notes and file in a printer paper box (did nealy 300 jobs last tax yr and they fitted in one box). then you can stick up in the loft or under the bed:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

The loft sounds good. I've been keeping everything in folders, one a month so I could find anything if I need it. The cardboard folders not ringbinders. I need to weed out all of the brochures and leaflets I've been given and try a box. Thanks Clippy and Miss Sarah0 -

I've never heard this mentioned. But if you do, i'm stuffed.ChickenGirl wrote: »So I don't need to keep any part of the report or paperwork for the tax people. They will know what your paid from your bank accounts. And your accounts should show fee/reinbursment.
If they need actual paperwork on this, i've never known.
When I started I was told reciepts, parking tickets and anything you claim (e.g. phone bill)I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
Oh pants! I was keeping all my receipts for like 6 months and then getting rid of them. That's wrong I guess? Balls!0

For most jobs you have to upload a photo of a receipt. I keep this on the computer and then chuck the original in a box. Job notes can be saved on the computer. In all reality, although HMRC say you should keep original recepts, so many offices are going paperless that a jpg or pdf is acceptable in thefirst instance.
If you use excel to keep track of jobs you can also create a link in each row to the saved receipt and job notes so that you can bring up your notes/receipt with one click.0 -

That's a clever idea...
I may have to rethink my filing. Of course if your computer breaks you're screwed...0 -

Which assumes you know how to create links and what not
