It certainly isn't what I expected on the forum, people seem so quick to jump on others, and waste time speculating over whether a user name is genuine or not. For those of us that are still quite new to the game it can be quite intimidating. Not saying that applies to everyone on here, just a few, but I felt I opened a real can of worms on here the other day when I asked a question.

I can completely see how you might feel. This forum has been exceptionally helpful to me and many others over the last few years. I think the issue here is that some people are not what they seem - they may appear to be 'helping' newbies, but their real motives may not be clear. How much experience does the person have who is claiming to help? And can you say that someone who is apparently posting under more than one username is trustworthy? People who have been on here for a long time know who is honest and truly experienced, unfortunately newer users don't know who to trust and I wish everyone who came on here was positive in their intentions, but forums will always attract trolls and people with mental health problems.

If people are really doing this multiple username thing, then their only real intention is to stir trouble and this is spoiling the forum for people who genuinely want help.

Exactly my love. I got a rollocking when I first started on this thread, but I don't bang on about it constantly. !!!!! happens. The person having a go at me was probably having a bad day or PMS or PMT or whatever. Various other people have been told off at times, but they don't go on about it either.

I think most of us have had a rollicking as a newbie at some point - I saw it as part of the steep learning curve :). I wouldn't have got as much work as I have done without this forum, so thanks :T to those who are genuine in their motives and please don't feel you have to leave because of certain muppets around at the moment.....

  • not sure how any job taken would be to avoid tax?

you'd have a fee which only covers the cost (no gain, no loss) - maybe with a bit of milage as well, so a small loss. How would you create a large tax loss?

the pizza ones gap do. Its possible to order the minimum and make a bit of a profit (and therefore pay tax on this fee) . I tend to order more than the spend but would only claim a spend equal to the reimbursement in the tax comp. it would clearly be taking the mick to spend £50 and claim it all against tax as you only needed to spend the remibursement to do the job.

(and no, i won't go down the line of calculating the minimum spend needed for each job and only claiming that, its pretty hard to do, though i suppose you only need to do it once for each type of job)

By accepting a job which will make you a loss, affecting the overall profit margin for the tax year, with that purpose in mind, is tax evasion.

You have accepted the job so your profits will drop and you pay less tax.

This point he was quite clear on.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

So for example, taking a reimbursement only job 250 miles away (where your mum happens to live) in order to claim 250 miles against expenses and treat your mum to lunch....

Not that I've done that, its and imaginary scenario, my mum lives at the other end of my road :D

More likely if the reimbursement jobs impact your taxable income => impacts your eligibility to benefits it could be problematic (or at the right level brings you below the NI small earnings exemption threshold)

but burntoutbabe, I'm bored of the tax talk....... how's the weather?, who do you fancy to win XFactor? (personally I couldn't give a damn just trying to change the subject - think I've done it to death and then some :D)

Hi... can anyone tell me what the concessions/merchandising (?) jobs are on react atm? There's loads of them that went up yesterday afternoon/evening and I can't work out from the tiny description what you actually have to do. Can anyone PM me and tell me a bit more? Don't want to accept with it being so unknown! Thanks :)

Don't know if anyone has been in touch, but it's basically walking in and checking a stand is to planogram and noting a few other things down. It's not difficult and it's quick and easy to do both the actual job and the report.

How hot is it where you are today? It's 26°C and sunny here. Had a lovely morning driving round between stores with my sunglasses on and singing my head off to all the feel good songs they were playing on the radio. I love my job
