  • Is it just me or has the mood on the forum changed over the last few days? Everyone seems so 'prickly' lol We all need to drink some green tea and go tell someone you love em.

Gap have a message on their homepage that pay is delayed and should be paid 30th - so presume it will get to us some time next week.

If i had one company who i only did no fee jobs, well how is that different to say a pizza company giving me a free meal if i fill in a report card for them? thats not a job and you wouldn't pay tax if they did that. its probably pretty rare you do only no fee jobs for anyone.

Hmmm we'll agree to disagree on that one, as I doubt that Michellin Guide reviewers/Good Food Guide reviewers/Food critics would agree with your assertion that its 'not a job' although of course they've got a salary so the 'Free Food' is easily classified an indirect benefit. Although if you can back it up I'd be interested to hear as obviously the same argument would apply to 'Free Jewellery', 'Free Petrol' , 'Free Hotel accommodation' and other reimbursement only.

Also.... Can you let me know where all these places are that give out free pizzas?, as the majority of in house promos I've seen are structured as 'give feedback and enter into a prize draw to win....' or 'get 50% off next visit' so structured as a prize draw or rebate so a completely different proposition.

And there is one company on the front page that pretty much specialises (95%) in no fee jobs.
  • (Is DP male?:D)

    I've PM'd you.....

    ...or me.
  • Is anyone still outstanding payments from BARE?

I received mine via Paypal this morning. A good one too, it'll pay for the van insurance next week.
  • well how would you define the exact value of the benefit if we go down that route?

the entire meal? I may have to order things i like and things i don't (and therefore don't eat beyond sampling one) so would i say "i didn't have any chips"

I don't know which company is 95% no fee, hence why i said you'd have to look at it company by company.

But being charged the full taxable cost of say a free hotel sounds madness. that sort of thing moves again back into the hobby area. Same as people doing surveys (WHO declares survey income, or shop and scan). What about focus groups, i don't know anyone who declares that (well i do). The companies advertise the work as "enjoy a free coffee or pizza on us" on their websites - not "pay the tax man 40% of the value of your goods"

As i say, i am happy with my stance and to justify it to any tax inspection. if others want to pay more tax when they don't need to (in my opinion) then fair enough. we will never know 100% who is right as tax doesn't work like that, however my way means I pay less tax (and the right amount based on my work on doing tax returns and discussing with various iother tax professionals).

Your job sounds really interesting  There's a good exhibition about the changing coastline in South Shields museum. I'm taking my bairns there next weekend.

Unaware of the South Shields thing but during the Summer there I was on an attachment to the Sealife Centre at Tyne Mouth. We helped them with their water balance problems. I can recommend it if you haven't already been. I think I might still have some free entry passes for the place too in the van somewhere. I'll PM you if I find them, you can have them.

It certainly isn't what I expected on the forum, people seem so quick to jump on others, and waste time speculating over whether a user name is genuine or not. For those of us that are still quite new to the game it can be quite intimidating. Not saying that applies to everyone on here, just a few, but I felt I opened a real can of worms on here the other day when I asked a question.
    :DPlease, pretty please!:D
  • I have called the tax office.

There are looking into the situation, looking through the business manual and will call me back.

I will update you with the answers I get.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!
