Fluctuation in flight prices - Daily

Hi
I went to book flights last night and thought no I'll wait till the morning (unsure whether someone would be coming with me or not so waited to just double check)...
Went to look this morning and the flight price has went up by £100 per person!
Are the flights likely to increase/decrease again - should I keep checking or will they only increase?
:mad::eek:
I always do this - should have just booked them there and then!!
(flight from dublin to new york at start of September btw)

A hike of £100 suggests demand must be rising for the flights you want so its unlikely to fall again. A smaller increase might have beeen a sign of the airline trying to see if it could raise prices without hitting sales but a large increase suggests they think they will have no problem filling the flight0

Airline price fluctuation is a law unto itself. The golden rule is if you see a ticket at a price you are willing to pay then book it and then don't check again.
The problem is that there isn't as much capacity or competition on DUB-NYC route as there is from London so good deals will be harder to get. Have you looked at prices via London, Amsterdam or Paris?0 -

This thread I've just posted might be of some use. In short, jackieblack is 100% correct. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/44476038#Comment_444760380

Don't worry. Common practice to stick flights up and down by £100 in a day.....
Generally unless you're looking at special dates the cheapest price will be approx 2 months before departure.0 -
Thanks for this - I had heard about this before... I will check this out when I get home from work! Really hope that's the cause and I can get the flights booked as I had originally found.

Well - tried the cookies stuff and nope - didn't work. Checked it on my phone on the data - nope, still same expensive price.
So you think I should wait a week or two - keep checking everyday?
It's unreal how the price varies SOO much!!0
