A very quick question re; VAT and termination

Can someone clear up if i have to pay VAT when terminating a contract early? O2 say i do, are they correct?

Then you have to pay VAT when importing it to NZ.
However, I don't see any connection between this 'eg' and VAT paid on the Early Termination Charge (if any).
