House insurance renewal with ongoing claim

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I have an ongoing claim for subsidence on my property and my renewal is due. The claim is we have a small (approx 3m2) porch on the front of the house which has started cracking where it joins the house and has sunk slightly due to the roots from some shrubs which were planted in front. A stusidence engineer has monitored the property as part of the claim and given it a clean bill of health barring the affected area.

This is where the problem comes, I am struggling to find an insurer who will take me on as a new customer with an unresolved claim and my renewal premium has increased from £170 buildings and contents to approximately £1550.

Does anyone have any ideas of anything I can do to lower this figure?

Thanks,

Mark

Did this ever get sorted? I am in the same position i am waiting for an loss adjuster to visit to see if the cracks in my window lintel are caused by subsidence or not. But my cover is up for renewal before that will happen.

I was told by my broker that the company i am with will not allow me to renew and no other company on their books will either because we are in the middle of a claim for possible subsidence.

I just dont know where to go, i do not want my insurance to lapse because i cannot find anyone to cover me during this.

Shouldnt my existing insurance company contine to provide insurance until this is resolved?

I have had the situation clarified today. The company i am with has decided to no longer offer house insurance hence the reason i cannot renew with them. My broker cannot find anoyone who will take me on. Also i have tried many specialist insurance companies who also will not take me on due to the unsettled claim.

I believe the agreement with my mortgage company stipulates i have to have buildings insurance, so i dont know how i stand here either :-(

If any one can offer any help or advice, it would be greatly appriciated.
  • I managed to get insurance with Insure 4 retirement for £600 after my current provider gave me a month's notice to say that they wouldn't renew after 4 claims in 5 years.

this included being tagged as having insurance declined and having one of the claims on going at time of transfer to new insurance.

The under writers are Prestige who apparently deal with riskier cases

    good luck.
