If you are on the annual interest option and have up to £81,500 you will be covered for the interest each year and then you can take out that interest paid to keep the balance at £81,500. Just remember to give the 6 months notice. The amounts will be slightly different for the monthly interest option and if a joint account will be double.

You won't miss too much interest as they aim to make the majority of payments in 7 days and all by 20 days.

I'm waiting for my first BACS transfer to go through, used the application reference number - presuming shouldn't be a problem with that, even though I have my account number now?

Will be unique so should be fine. Just have to twiddle your thumbs for 3 whole working days...(me too).

Well, I'm not receiving good service.

Tried to add £60,000 on the 21st of June through their web-site. It refused the 21st, and the 22nd, and specifically said that the earliest acceptable date was the 23rd - so obviously I went for that.

The money arrived in my account on the 23rd, but was then returned to me on the 24th!

The operative tells me that's because the date was too soon!

I could only follow the instructions as given by the site - indeed it actually forbade me from making a too early instruction!

And taking the money and then returning it seems like a nonsense.

Now I have to do it all again - and of course it is apparently my fault! :(

Has anyone noticed that it takes over 24 hours for a faster payment to update in your online statement even though the customer services representatives balance already shows the payment? Also the 'date' column in your online statement shows the business day following the receipt of the faster payment.

buffman, according to post #99 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/44637394#Comment_44637394

"Newcastle BS use Barclays to clear their funds so that's why a payment takes a little longer to arrive than you may expect, as the money goes to Barclays first, then on to the Newcastle."

I have just made a FP and it is useful to know that it probably won't appear until tomorrow.

That does sound poor. I imagine they will compensate you if you set it out clearly and they recognise the fault as theirs. Good luck.

    I call these Faster-ish payments!

The money you send to Newcaslte via Faster Payments will get to their Barclays clearing account almost instantly, but won't show as being credited to your Newcaslte BS account until the next working day.

The Faster Payments took longer than one working day to appear in the online statement, but when I phoned they could see the true balance. I transfered about 10 am yesterday and took until this afternoon to show online, so don't panic if it takes more than 24 hours to appear!
