Are cpw phones unlocked?
I read somewhere that all cpw phones are unlocked. I am thinking about getting my son a Motorola Rizr Z3 for Xmas, he is currently on Tesco Mobile and I would like to eventually go back to that. I am looking at possibly the Orange one and would like to change back to Tesco once the credit is used.
Any opinion on the phone welcome.

I have bought several CPW phones and they have always been unlocked. A shop asst at CPW told me that they couldn't possibly stock different phones for each operator. Strangely the phones still have different prices for each operator so I buy the cheapest and discard the sim. You can usually tell because locked phones normally have the providers logo on them and CPW phones dont. Best thing to do is to just tell the sales asst what you intend to do.0

I would say that the statement is untrue. Some may be generic stock but not all. If it comes in an Orange branded box it will be locked. Why not ask the sales person? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I thought most WERE locked, but could be wrong.
I've got the phone & I love it, best phone ever. The screen & buttons are big, so it's easy to use. It's loud so you can hear it.
Mine is the pink V3, I don't really like the colour. But my daughter gave it to me as she was getting a new one. I get all her old phones, but this is the best yet.
In fact shes had 3 since, but I'm sticking with this phone.

Well in the end I talked to him and gave him the choice of phones ranging from totally free to him or he could put some money towards a better one. So after much deliberation in CPW he went for the LG Chocolate which is the phone that I wanted but it didn't have handsfree dialling so I ended up with the V3im.
They told me that the phone is locked to the Virgin network but it does not have the logo on the box, so we will see. I went for Virgin because it was the cheapest way to buy it £129.95 plus it comes with £35 free airtime. After the 1st year I will probably get it unlocked as the warranty will have expired then.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

Virgin will supply the unlock code for it for free when a certain amount of credit has been applied - £30 I believe. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Cpw lock most of there best sellers now
FYI even if it doesnt have network branding it could still be locked.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0
