Broadband for temporary address

Options
Does anyone know of any companies that would supply broadband to a temporary address without having to sign up to 12 months contract? We are moving into a rental property temporarily but would prefer not to have to sign up for 12 months (although we would if we thought we could then transfer it to the next property we move to once we buy somewhere.) Ive looked at month to month contracts but they seem a bit expensive. Any help would be really appreciated. Ive been online but cant see anything apart from month to month or pay as you go (and Im online loads so cant do pay as you go)

Many companies do rolling 30 day contracts, but you'll still need a landline to use it, which requires a 12m contract for line rental. I think the PO used to be the only exception?

If you have an android phone buy a £5 Three sim.It gives you 2gb a month and use the tethering option on the phone.

I was in a similiar situation.., had to move into temporary accommodation and used a Three dongle (roll on, 30 days notice needed) .., it was around 15.99 - £19 incl vat for 5Gb. It turned out to be quite easy to use up the 5Gb as i have a son that wouldn't listen and kept using Utube. But it was the cheapest way I could have some kind of broadband without installing a phone line.

my son was in a similar situation and found plusnet didn't need a 12 month contract.

    Another vote for plusnet.

Been with them for over a year now, and very happy.
  • All one month contracts

    IDNET (line + adsl)
    AAISP (line + adsl)
    Zen Internet (line + adsl)
    BE (line + adsl)
    Post office (line only)

    (not exhaustive list)

Line setup circa £85 to £150 depending on who you go with.

Plusnet has a month to month option but I thoguht there was some catch if you took the incentives e.g. you had to repay the value of them, or something similar. On the other hand the connection fee is about £49 I think.

If you can get a decent 3G signal then a 3G modem might well be the answer, whilst not probable, with a good signal it may even outperform ADSL at your location. Three charges £25 for each 7GB of data on PAYG so it might be much cheaper, or much more expensive or not even viable depending on what you use.

Virgin Media transferred our broadband to a different address at no extra cost :)
