Hi
I couldnt get on wireless earlier so went on sky trouble shooting which told me to go to tools, internet options, connections, LAN settings and untick any boxes.
Automatically detect settings was ticked so I unticked it.
Now when I open up internet explorer I get this message:
A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer
Internet explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider google(www.google.com)
Internet explorer will now open search settings where you can change this setting or install more search providers
Manage add ons
Why is it doing this and how do I stop it?
Thanks

If you don't feel comfortable editing/changing the registry then get someone who knows what they are doing to do this for you.
Close all Internet Explorer windows
Click Start
Search regedit
press enter
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes
Right click the SearchScopes folder
Click Export
Give the backup a name and save to your desktop
Right click the SearchScopes folder again
Click Rename
Add _OLD to SearchScopes (so that it reads SearchScopes_OLD)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes
Right click the SearchScopes folder
Click Export
Give the backup a name and pick the location then click Save
Right click the SearchScopes folder again
Click Rename
Add _OLD to SearchScopes (so that it reads SearchScopes_OLD)
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\User Preferences
Right click the User Preferences folder
Click Export
Give the backup a name and pick the location then click Save
Right click the User Preferences folder
Click Delete
Open Internet Explorer
This should force IE to create new registry keys for both SearchScopes and the User Preferences.R.I.P Dad. I will never forget you xxx0 -
I would have left 'Automatically Detect Settings' alone.0

I only changed it cos thats what it said in the trouble shooting. If I put it back would that correct it? Wireless is working ok now.0

I am a bit scared of changing the registry;)0

Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.
After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.
Next, download and save both the Installer and the executable of HijackThis and use the Quick Start guide to enable you to produce a log for posting here too. If using Vista or Windows 7, you'll need to install(the installer) and run the(.exe as Administrator by right clicking on the downloaded .exe file and choosing 'Run as Administrator once downloaded and saved.)0 -
I ran the malwarebytes yesterday and this is the log:

I was having trouble a couple of weeks ago with something trying to sell me some antivirus and it wouldnt let me on the internet. I posted here and got some help but when I did what I was told after hijackthis (ticked and removed some things) the computer wouldnt start properly.
The only way I could get it to work was pressing F8 then highlighting "last known good configuration".
If I turn off or restart now I still have to do this. Not sure if I was told to remove something that was needed or if this is all linked to some bl**dy virus:D0 -
Have you tried a System Restore to before a couple of weeks ago?
There is a fair amount of crud running on your PC. I would remove/disable most of the things I see running there. You certainly don't need Price Gong.
If closed doesn't come along with a guide for you, I'll do it.
What is the make and model of your machine?0
