Wonder why groceries cost so much?

I went to my local Tesco's today and couldn't believe the bare-faced cheek...Two teenagers walked into the main foyer. One loaded the other with three crates of beer, then they both walked out the same way they came in. Whilst this was going on, the Rambo-esque security guard just stood there and did nothing. I went to the customer service desk and reported what I had just seen, only to be told "security staff here are useless".
Apparently, the brazen thieves know it, too. "Stock shrinkage" costs are passed down to the customer. Another reason why our groceries cost so much.

Security Guard should loose his job then, for not doing his job. A lot of people out there that would be willing to do the job, I know I'm one of them.
If I where the manager I would tell him to do his job if his employed by tesco's or if he works for a security company, phone the company he works for and ask for someone else to take his place, and why, and tell them not to send him again.0 -

the staff would also be affected as money is lost as OT is cut altogether or just offered on limited basis
in practice high value items shouldnt be near the entrance/exit anyway
i find the security in asda pretty good at pouncing on any wannabe thieves0 -

i am getting so fed up of things rising in price including food, but wages never going up. the income for my job has gone up about 20% in the last 10 years whereas food, petrol, bills have probably gone up 200%. so what is going on, the future doesn't look good to me?0

I found one of my mum's old 'outgoings' books a couple of weeks ago. It was from 1997. Weekly shopping then for 5 people was £60 on average (although some weeks were more and some were less, depending on what was needed). Now, it's £60 for 2 people and we're buying far less. We used to buy a whole big trolley overflowing with food for that. I'd say things have gone up far too much.0

I have had to cut down on treats. I always tried to save money when I can by getting cheaper brands/offers etc. But now treats which arent excessive like chocolate, ice cream I cut down. I too getting fed up and trying to get by, I dread winter when fuel bills start coming0
