Cancled phone delivered?

The "bag" they normally send out is simply a thin plastic envelope with prepaid addressing (and return bar codes etc) on it.
If the OP is worried about not receiving this bag in time - though I think he will get it within 24-48 hours, he could ask the company if they do refunds for postage.
For instance, CPW will refund cost of a return if you paid for it yourself. I returned a phone recently, sent it special delivery at my own cost and claimed the cost for p&p (just stuck it in some cheap jiffy bag) from CPW with the receipt as evidence. Not all retailers will work like this but worth checking if you are worried. You do need to use send some letter with returns number on it and details if you do a return without using the prepaid envelope.
PS -Saying all the above, larger retailers normally get delivery people to collect items from doorstep. When you do end up having to go yourself to postoffice is when you are outside the 14 days period for returning something that turns out to be faulty etc. (at least larger retailers do this). After 14 days, you end up going to post office yourself.0 -
I am afraid I don't agree with your first point. There is no reason whatsoever why they could not.
I'm not sure why you believe that the OP was objecting to going to a Post Office. I read it that he was not happy about waiting for a bag to be sent out and I explained that in my previous post.
I use Orange broadband and my Livebox died. They sent me out a new livebox but told me that I had to return the old one or I would be liable for £100. They said they would send me a bag. None arrived and with £100 hanging over my head, I rang up and they promised they would send me another.
It didn't arrive, so I rang again. It transpired that Orange no longer sent out bags for live boxes and I had to send it back (Free) with a proof of posting.
With that background, and the 7 day window under DSR, I would be a little on tenterhooks until the bag arrived or I had sent a letter/email confirming I was rejecting the handset under DSR.
Surely you are worrying unnecessarily, you have 7 days to notify them, not 7 days to return the item.0 -
Did you expect them to come and collect it in person then? Just make sure you send it RD. If you have no proof of delivery and they say it doesn't arrive, then you're liable for the handset cost.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Did you not read my first post? I advised OP to put the rejection in writing and keep a copy. That would have secured proof of rejection, regardless of when the phone was actually returned.
Trying to prove cancellation based upon a phone call alone with an unnamed CS person would, otherwise, depend upon any recorded transcripts.
You are a regular contributor to this forum and are one of the people whose posts I respect, so you will have read many where problems have arisen simply because OP can't prove their version of a telephone arrangement.
If you were referring to my livebox tale, then the 7 days didn't apply, but they didn't supply me with a return address either till I pushed and pushed and they then gave me the correct address.0
