you sir is a tit....grow a pair of balls instead of coming on here crying about money,
when you have had plenty of time to put something away...i detest people like you who want your bum wiped for you....become a man for once...

I suspect people like yourself read these forums to say things like that.

I would love to see your balls, and know how often you wipe your own bum.

Actually, there'll be no need to post an answer to that.

You always hope that people who reply can be helpful, not that they're just smug gits with !!!!!! all else to do.

Jeez, with that attitude you can take a running jump and figure it out yourself. No-one's going to want to offer any further suggestions only for you to throw it back in their faces.

    Too bad for you eh?

I've lived there before for 2 years.

The costs of commuting would be in excess of the rent, or not much different. I'd still need money to cover the commuting costs, and I'd then have to find the deposit money to move once I was paid. That'd be a bad idea. I know what you mean though - I'd thought about it. Thanks :)

Yes, it may be close, but what if you find the money for the deposit and first months rent and at the end of your probation you ain't kept on?

If it's possible, I'd commute for at least the probation period, this also gives you a chance to find out if any of the other employees are looking for a flat mate.

I'm not sure if it's been covered above, but if your overdraft is also maxed have you considered that it could be called in at some point?

    Hi,

Please take a second to read this. In a nutshell my situation is as follows:

I have just secured a job on 27k per year, but I am absolutely broke because I've been studying. I need to move down to London by the 4th of July to start the job.

I've been continuing the part-time job I was doing while I was studying until I could find something better paid, but that doesn't pay my living costs let alone savings.

I need money to pay my first month's rent, my deposit, and also a meagre amount to live on before my first pay date.

I was thinking I could get a bank loan, because on the HSBC website the conditions are not clear.

They've told me that I need to be in work for 3 months to be eligible.

What can I do now? It's really scuppered me.

Credit card? I don't want to, and even then there might be eligibility problems.

    Loans from somewhere else? Again.

I've never taken out a loan or a credit card before, so I'm quite naive about all this. The last thing I want to do in my desperation is make a terrible mistake.

    Any ideas?

Have you no contacts from your previous time in London?

Does an overdraft not count as a loan?

In your post of 10/2009 you said

However, I have been itching a lot this last few days. Maybe I'm being bitten? Or maybe it's psychosomatic and my head is infested?
Remind us again who you say you are going to work for! :T

No no, that's fine. Hope you enjoyed posting that though.

I'd thought about that, but if I ain't kept on after the probation period, I'm in the shitter anyway. No point worrying about that.

My current situation where I'm living is just as intolerable as that worst case scenario :)

And as I said, 3 months of commuting 6 hours a day on trains and buses would probably increase the likelihood of that happening.

About my overdraft - yes, I'd considered it, but until I'm in well-paid work there's no point worrying about that either. That's why I have to start this job. It was a major effort to get it :) And it's what I really want to do.

It's not clear what you are asking any more, tbh, if you had already done every suggestion people have spent time responding with - so good luck with solving it.
