primarily because an OD is more flexible and repayable on demand compared to a regulated loan agreement.

thus if you are taking the mickey and not paying it down they can cancel it on payday when you are in the black.

you are looking for a short term flexible funding option for 3 to 4 months. An overdraft is the mechanim to provide this.

...I tried this morning online to extend my overdraft online and it didn't work. Said my credit rating wouldn't support it.

Which is curious because I have no debts other than my student one and my overdraft (no credit cards, etc) and I checked my credit rating a few months ago and it said it was very good.

You were told by Emmzi that the computer would say no.
She advised you to go into the bank & speak to someone personally.

Couldn't you commute for the first month? You may hate London.

I've lived there before for 2 years.

The costs of commuting would be in excess of the rent, or not much different. I'd still need money to cover the commuting costs, and I'd then have to find the deposit money to move once I was paid. That'd be a bad idea. I know what you mean though - I'd thought about it. Thanks :)

According to directgov, not much. I wouldn't get much of the full sum I need in the time I need. I'd also lose 20% in tax as it'd be a second job.

But you're right, I can have a look for some extra work because something is better than nothing. It won't help me much with my situation though.

you don't get that sort of work on a website. Go bang agency doors, go ask round pubs. You're not going to make this if you are shy.

I'm not shy, it's just I've done all that thing many times. Nobody wants someone for 3 weeks. It's more of a hassle than anything else. The first thing they ask is how long you're available for.

I've lied in the past - said I was available for 6 months when it was 2 weeks. I worked up to the end of the 2nd week, then did one. I didn't feel good about it afterwards. Don't want to do it again.

well, if you don't want to fib, don't want to knock doors, don't want to sell stuff, don't want to ask family, don't want to ask your employer, and don't want to go and talk to your bank, I am all out of ideas.

No one is going to give you the money!
