This might be a good scheme if introduced, dont forget Tescos sometimes take vouchers from their competiters.

I actually find Sainsburys cheaper. One big factor is that if I go into Tesco at 5pm they are almost always sold out of their basics fruit and veg so I have to buy the next brand up. Sainsburys might be a bit more expensive for their basics but at least I can almost always get them. But I guess the price guarantee won't show that.
Sainsburys is better quality than Tesco, and another plus is you don't get many families screaming and swearing like you do at Tesco, the language sometimes is disgusting.

ohh i wonder if tesco will take these vouchers though? they take the £5 of a £40 shop, but these will be like £2.38p etc. would be interesting. as i dont mind screwing tesco for a extra few quid.
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.

    Then why give a voucher??
If the till checks the prices and Sainsburys are dearer, why not just deduct the amount from the initial bill?? The amount (if any) has already been worked out.

For me anyway, the voucher is an attempt at getting you to return - forced loyalty. If you don't return with the voucher then Sainsburys have obtained a higher price.
If they are really price-matching, there shouldn't be any vouchers as the prices should be equal or lower.

I wonder if you could take the voucher and spend it instantly on say clothes, then head over to customer service say you no longer wanted them and ask for a cash refund?

will it compare your whole basket or individual items , if the latter it would be cheaper to pay for your shopping 1 item at a time

Looks like Sainsbury are going to introduce a scheme like Asda & Tesco, but the till will check ASDA, Tesco & Morrison prices & automatically print out a voucher for the difference to spend on your next shop :j

Where did you hear this? I'd love it if true

I received a survey from Sainsburys asking me about my opions on this scheme, which they would be introducing. According to the survey it will only be on branded products and may exclude, beers, wine, sprits and also may have inclusion criteria, ie you need to buy a certain number of items, spend over a certain threshold amount and / or use a nectar card to qulify.

THe vouchers may be limited e.g. max of £5 and the expiry date on them could be anything from 1 to 4 weeks.

It also explored whether comparison would be made with current deals offered by the other supermarkets. If these were excluded it would be a pretty poor scheme.

Hmm, so it could be a while before they launch it. I'm fed up going in Tesco's all the time!

It's true, they are going to trial it in Northern Ireland from Wednesday.
You have to spend £20 for it to work though. Voucher is only valid for 14 days

    1. You do the shopping...
Spend a minimum of £20 on your usual shop with at least one branded product in your trolley.

    2. We do the maths...
We compare the price of brands against what Asda or Tesco are charging for them that day. Including deals. All at the till. If the same branded shop could have been bought for less at Asda or Tesco on the same day you will get a coupon for the difference.

    3. And pass any savings back to you...
If the same branded products (same size, variety, flavour) could have been bought for less at Asda or Tesco we'll give you a money-off coupon for the difference, there and then, at the till, to use on your next shop.
