Hi All,

I think Comet are taking me for a ride!!!

Brought the Samsung LE46C750 around 22 days ago from Comet. Paid £700 (£100 on debit card for deposit, and then the remaining on 9 months interest free credit.)

TV has been fine and dandy until this morning when i turned it on. I was greeted with no picture, but only sound!!! The source was the freeview via co-axel.

Ive spoken to Comet over the phone (they are now my most hated company for customer service) and there sending out a engineer next thursday (5 days time) and wont accept if i take the TV back into store, has to be seen by an engineer first.

Is there anything i can try first off? I have unplugged it all day, and tried it and still no luck!

Where do i stand as its less than 28 days old?

HELP!!!!

You can stand beside the TV until next thursday...which by my count isn't in 5 days time.

No imputs work, nothing is displayed on the screen.

I can see the backlight light up (from looking down on the screen), but when the TV first turned on, a noise happened and the Samsung logo appeared, and then the ability to swap channels or choose inputs.

    Nothing at all.

Sorry, copied and pasted from AV forums, which i posted on Sunday.

After some consumer advice now, seems like Comet are taking me for a ride

Unplug it, take it back to the store and demand a full refund of the deposit and the cancellation of the credit, or a TV that works. Make a huge fuss, refuse to budge, tell everyone who comes to the counter..

Comet seem to see a "large appliance" as a tv over 22" in size! Reading on their site, its just saying to call the help line number (premium rate) and they will deal with it.

By dealing with it, it appears i cant take it back to the store, but have to wait for an engineer to come out.

    I hate Comet

Use one of the geo numbers from the "saynoto0870" site, put Comet into the search box, plenty of numbers to choose from, even an 0800 181688 number in the verified list and one 0800 9568592 in the unverified list.

Can't see what the problem is myself. How many TVs do you think Comet gets returned just because people didn't set them up correctly? Now, if the engineer comes on Thursday, it still doesn't work, and then they refuse to replace it you would certainly have cause for complaint.

Incidentally, last time I had a problem with Comet I got the name of the CEO off of their corporate website and wrote to him directly. His PA was very helpful and sorted it out pronto. I can't be doing with customer services 'phone numbers anywhere, go into writing soonest is my motto, it saves time and aggravation in the long run.
