Can i ask you about having a third child? (Or anyone else who has more than 2) You know how when you have your first it's a bit of a massive shock and you wonder where all your time went? Then you have number 2 and think "wow i had so much more time on my hands when i only had one child!" and it's just as big a shock to the system. What's it like with number 3? Is it the same? Do you look back on all that spare time you had when there were only 2 children or is it less of an adjustment now that all your time is pretty much zapped up anyway?

Having 3 was so much easier than 2.

DS1 was at nursery as over 3 so I had a little bit of structure to the day which was great.
DD1 was constantly ill.. she had perpetual chest infections, pneumonia and croup. She screamed 24/7 for her first 6 months.
DS2 was angelic as a baby.. slept well, never cried.. and I mean never! He was 2 months prem, in the middle of January in thick snow and was the most delightful baby ever. He just slotted into everything we already did.. school runs, todder groups, dance class, swimming etc..

there was 18m 10 days between 2 and 3 and 18m11days beteen 3 and 4.. There will be at best 14 months between Squeak and Dot!

By the time number 3 comes along you have dealt with most of the crap children can throw at you so you are more confident and relaxed and don't get worked into a flap over every sneeze fart and squeak.

1x wm. 2nd about to go in.
    clothes hung on rack.
cleaned cooker. (left over task from last week)
just about to start clearing lounge floor.

Uropachild - gotta second whats been said about three. I had both dd's in school when she came along (aged 8 and 5 at the time) I am now expecting #4 and thankfully, am due in summer hols so hope to have some adjustment time. the preg has been a little more tiring (as it was with dd3) but my older ones are quite responsible and dd1 is about to start high s chool in sept and dd2 is now 8 so i think it will be easier still. they are really helpful around the home and do their fair share of chores - i am finding it easier having an orderly home the more kids i have. I have the added advantage of not needing to sort bottles but i do use cloth nappies which adds to my washing. it was s truggle going back to work but the first year was bliss. I have now made the decision not to return to work and while money will be a little tight, i think the family dynamics will work better. I found the hardest thing with having three was working. i just missed them ALL the time whereas before, i used to love going to work and doing my job.

I am THRILLED to announce I have seen Mike the Mechanic (honestly!) and given him my car key having asked the bloke-over-the-road if he would be kind enough to take me there.
So now I need clutch repair ASAP and ACAP (as cheap as possible) vibes please.

I have washing out - bit grey but I'm hoping - not least because the washbasket got filled with VERY damp washing yesterday.

And I shall do some work work...

Have been messaged by a Polish guy interested in an item on e bay - and wiith a list of stuff he's looking to buy (he must be running a shop judging by what he's been buying). He has very helpfully (rolls eyes) told me I need to change my buyer requirements in order to sell to him, suggested a lower postage price - not considering the packaging I WILL have to buy) - erm there's a REASON I have an exclusion list and no longer post outside the UK!GRRRR)

Mumto5, life does sound busy for you right now! Can i ask you about having a third child?

I only have 3 but I remember asking a friend (mother of 3) the same thing when I first knew number 3 was on the way and hadn't told anyone yet..... she just laughed :rotfl:

Mine were a bit spaced out tho...the week before DD2 was born by C-section, DD1 started in Junior school, and DS started in Infant school. My mum stayed for a while- huge help after the Csection. DD1 was mini-mum. DS had enough attention from Gran (my mum lived 150 miles away so having her around was a treat) to keep him amused.

At times over the past years I have felt like air traffic control..!!! taxi driver, but I would have happily had more if not advised against for medical reasons.
There are times when the nearest siblings have not got on well, but it soon passes, and lovely to see them helping the younger one/s.
You are a bit more chilled by the time you get to the third...been there, read the bookS, put them in the charity bag. :grouphug:

Uropachild DD1 was 6 1/2 and DS1 was nearly 4 when DS2 was born. Both had been good babies who slept reasonably well. DS1 had eczema which needed time consuming treatment. The 2 eldest were very independent and could dress themselves when DS2 was born. Things became challenging when DS1 started school. He hated school and had severe behavioural problems. Fortunately DS2 was a very good natured baby. If he had been a clingy, bad sleeper I would have struggled to cope. The behavioural issues improved when he went to senior school (when DS3 was born) but his hatred of school has never changed.

DS3 was born 6 years after DS2 and DD2 followed 22 months later much to our surprise as DS3 was meant to be the last. It was a shock and we had to move house taking on a larger mortgage and bigger bills. Our life is much better now but money is tight and the older children get more expensive as they age. I comfort myself in the knowledge that our mortgage will be finished in 8 years time when DS3 is 15.

Going from 2 to 3 was the easiest addition to the family. He just seamlessly blended into the family and nothing really changed.

I'm at work and have nothing to do. I have rearranged the shelves and done some dusting but I'm bored!

Just doing the vacuuming now (well, halfway thru but dd3 is eating cake on the floor so waiting for her to finish before continuing) and not really sure i need a binbag dance as we have slowly been clearing a few things out over time. My lounge is near enough spotless - aside from my pile of ironing. lol.

I have the wm on and clothes are sorted into piles of washing that need to go in. I have a phonecall to make chasing some payments we are owed but otherwise, I think i have done the bulk of todays list. :) the only passport outstanding is dd1 but we are waiting for the arrival of the new baby before sending for hers as then we will do the two together. we tend to do them in 'sets'. mine and dh; dd2&dd3 and dd1 and new baby. (obv dd1 was solo prior) We aren't actually going away til feb 2012 so no rush. have just received mine and dh's in the last couple of weeks.

Going to catch up in kitchen as last weeks list was done very briefly. lol fridge is sparkling as is the cooker but cupboards could all do with a clearout so will try and tackle those slowly. Also gonna do a couple of hhi's in between my hhc. :)

Its less of a shock than 1 and 2, but can be a shock if 2 is now sleeping through and getting independent.

I ummed and ahhhed and asked the flyladies about #3, but of course it was absolutely right for us, despite a miscarried pregnancy before he was born.

It takes longer to get out of the house and the washing and ironing are more out of control.

DD age 8, DD age 3, DS age 10 weeks, HTH. x
