Whoa! Yoo hoo. I've got another child and dog since we last saw you.

What about you, did you ever give teaching a go?

    dw unloaded.
Wow! Congratulations! You've been busy ;)
Fortunately, I never did get into teaching! Couldn't get a Uni to accept a Law Degree as a valid transfer subject - guess they were oversubscribed - but I managed to turn my passion (knitting) into a career. Didn't see that one coming, but so glad it did! :jI teach knitting & crochet though, does that count? All that 'practice' after my redunancy paid off.

HHC update: Living/dining/kitchen areas all squared off, surfaces wiped, floor swept (I couldn't find the hoover:eek:) and have less knotty grumpiness now.

Settling down for the evening now with some freelance work, sanity knitting & a bath. Catch up with you all soon x

    Hello!
This week there's a bit of madness in my house, as we're decorating living room.
    I want to:
    -wash all doors
    -remove all marks from walls
    -wash fabric wadrobes
    -wash all windows
-take cans and bottles to recycling point.
    On top of this
    -wash the bathroom
-keep kitchen tidy (the hardest job, lol)
    -hoover
    -wash
    -iron
    Keep going, guys!
  • First thing Minion did as she came in was pick up the gibble she had left in the hallway and take it up to her pit. Then she came down, collected her books and took them up. Then she took off her uniform and put it into the washing machine (having checked it was a darks wash, so put the shirt into to basket instead).

Hmmm - my spider sense is tingling.

She hands me two letters from the school.

One is that she has been nominated for some prize or another, they won't say which until the prizegiving (could there really be a Smartarsed Backchatter of the Year award?) I am saving my proud mum dance until then. :D

    and

One is the school newsletter - where in a tiny paragraph, they half heartedly announce that they have, in response to a large number of requests (I wonder if they mean as a result of a parent contacting the other parents via FB and encouraging them to speak out if they found it wrong?) decided that girls will also be allowed to wear trousers from September! :J:

She then uses a quiet moment to mention that she had a row with the one teacher at the school who dislikes her (a female DT teacher who has taken exception to having Minion say little gems such as 'Have you ever considered switching it on might help fix it?' or 'How can you tell us the rules when you're in a workshop with those shoes on?') because she wrote in her final assessment on pop ups that it was a waste of time using thin paper and making x versions when it would have been much quicker, cheaper and reliable to use card instead after the first trials. Needless to say, Minion has detested this term and pop ups as a whole.

Unfortunately, the teacher threatened to put her on report and Minion answered back 'For what? I'm never late, my homework is always in on time, I've done all the work and you're the only teacher who has a problem with me. It's not my fault that we've had to do this work with unsuitable materials and you can't have a go at me for saying so in my assessment'. The teacher backed down and sat at her desk in silence.

I am displeased that the teacher tried to use a punishment reserved for disruptive pupils, but I know just how wearing Miss Smartypants can be when she knows something, I am displeased that she answered back and I am displeased that the teacher has backed down, as now Minion has smelled blood in the water and has realised that, as long as she keeps up with the work/attendance side, she is effectively untouchable.

    ********

    WM on
    DW finished
Sides bleached - I need more bleach AGAIN! This flylady lark is good for the makers of the stuff.
    Appliances washed down
    Floor swept
    Cat bowls clean

And I have used up the last of my Stardrops  I haven't been able to find any in my neck of the woods for as long as I can remember now. Not in Mr A, S, T, M, the poundshops or anywhere else. We don't have a Wilkinsons, B&M, Home Bargains or anywhere else I can think of that might have it. This could be a disaster as the windows really need washing now.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
