  • As a buyer you have good protection via paypal. As a seller ebays dispute facility is pretty good for non paying bidders.
    If I am after something ( usually cars ) I will always email the seller to see if they have a price in mind and if they want to sell outside of ebay, as I would always rather view the item and buy there and then.
    In the same way I always encourage my own sales out of ebay, they seem to be a lot more hassle free. This only really works with cash sales thou.
    The only time I am strict to let the auction go to the end is if I have no Idea what the item is worth or the bidding is above my expectations.
