hi dont know were to put this but i am an orange customer for mobile, recently rang for upgrade which was ordered but was also given information on broadband .
i clearly told the lady that i will look at the offer she suggested
the call ended with her saying she will call again on wednesday to see if i was interested in the package
but to my horror i have received 3 emails confirming i am an orange broadband customer and a new router is on my way
rung cs yesterday who confirmed i am not a broadband customer but got email today confirming the new account set up in direct debit

Did you give your bank details? Presumably not, as you were considering.
did you give a PAC code? Without it, you can't change servers anyway.

don't panic, if they have no bank details, they can't take your money, without the code, they can't begin serving you.

If the router turns up, refuse delivery.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

i am an orange customer so they have bank details ,i use virgin for net at present so will probably dont need mac code
but i will make sure no one at house accepts the delivery
on ringing again just now,the cs person recognised the issue without me giving my details, said emails are being sent as a process of reservation started when i made enquiry
well i never made an enquiry

If you're on Virgin cable & have the phone from Virgin as well, you can't have BBand on your phoneline,You'd need to get a BT line installed.

And mobile with Orange...makes no sense at all. Bundling some of those should save you a lot.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

i do realise different providers are not the best, considering my sky plus box packed in yesterday i am looking to rationalise these costs
but it was underhandedness of orange which worried me

Its not 'underhandedness' exactly.., I am an Orange customer and I am afraid they are incredibly bound by useless 'procedures' that don't make sense. Honestly, I am speaking from experience. U will probably find that they really do have an insane procedure to automatically send emails out when a supposed enquiry has been made. Honestly, Orange are unbelievable at times lol. If I wasn't tied into mobile contracts with them, their uncustomerfriendly procedures are definitely enough to make me use anyone but Orange.

despite sending me an email 2 days ago saying my account has been cancelled, this morning i got another call confirming my account was still up and running and the change also included my phone line
the excuse was that as i did not need a MAC code hence a broadband connection was set up
i thought first thing they needed was my consent/willingness to change so am still not sure what is happening,i have asked my bank not to go ahead with any change in direct debit
i notice there is some one from orange on these forums ,may be can shed some light on their procedures
ofcom dont have procedures for broaadband misselling, may be something martin needs to look at
