Considering everything is computerized nowadays, why don't the supermarkets just update the prices centrally to all tills in the country? That shouldn't be too difficult?

Because supermarkets have to change the labels on the shelves. This myth about the price shown is just an offer is just that, a myth, large supermarkets are required to honour the price on the shelf. Therefore all the price changes aren't sent to the till until the SEL is correct.

At upto £5,000 fine per infringement it is worth while selling the odd item at 50p discount.
  • Every time.

    On our last Morrisons shop.

Our meat that was reduced but would not scan properly and was therefore scanned twice at the full price and then once at the redcued price.

While I was being given the money for the refund I spotted......

Ice Cream that should be 2 for £3 went though full price. So the CS statred to process that refund and then I spotted....

Selection of 5 bread rolls for £1.25 - scanned 5 times by the SA (£1.25 per roll!) and cost £6.25 - so £5 given back.

    Not a good day!!

My OH said he never checks and it was a good job I was there.

I never use to until i read on here how important it is to do so.
I've had quite a few of those cards from Asda when i've pointed out mistakes. Funny but many receipts seem to be wrong in the customers favour.

Yes. Always check my receipts, have done for years, it can save so much money, and in the "old" days if you did it once you had gone through checkout you often used to get your money back aswell "for your trouble and inconvenience" not so now any more unfortunately.

I always do. I find they make as many mistakes in my favour as theirs.

Recently mini Shredded Wheat were posted as being on offer; 2 for £4 instead of £2.67 each. Bought 2, checked my bill, they had charged me £2.67 each, then deducted £1.98 = 2 for £3.36 ! Went round again and bought 2 more !

I always check the change and the bill before I come out of a shop. I bought a cheese and tomato swirl from Tesco's today which sells for 80p and when I checked the bill I was charged 20p. I went to customer services and showed them and they said the cashier under charged me because she couldn't find the item. I offered to pay the correct money as I didn't want the cashier to get into trouble and they just said thanks for being honest and if I wanted to go and get some more I could and they would still charge me 20p.
So I went and picked up 4 more and a loaf of weight watchers bread that sells at 93p I went to customer services to pay and the bread scanned at 9p I couldn't believe it. Perhaps I will do all my shopping at 3pm on a Sunday from now on.

Come to think of it if bread is 93p and it scanned at 9p supermarkets are clearly making big profit's. There is no way they would give food away with making a profit.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

the same bread was 10p at my local Tesco today at 3:30pm as well - they even announced it over the tannoy. I have no idea if it is horrible or not, first time I bought it, but at 10p, if I don't like it I will feed it to the Ducks.
