sim card deal - but need new phone

i went onto a sim card only deal with t-mobile but the (old) phone i was using is now not working

i dont need anything flashy - what's the cheapest phone i can get that i can use a t-mobile sim. can i buy a cheapo PAYG t-mobile phone and just slot my sim card into it?

    The cheapest new phones are PAYG Alcatel OT209 and Samsung E1080 from mobiles.co.uk or e2save.com.
    They cost 1p+£10, but you can get up to £7.57 cashback through TCB and sell unwanted sim with credit on e-bay.
    Phones are likely to be unlocked.

    am i better off making sure the phone i get is a t-mobile PAYG scheme

    sorry, i'm a little confused how this all works.

    Yes, if the phone is locked, but as I said it's almost certainly unlocked. And even in the worst case scenario you make a small profit, not loss.
