Noise affecting speed

Options
Currently I am monitoring my broadband speed (plus LA and SN) over the weekend.

Opposite my house is a BT pole but I'm not connected to it, my connection is about six house distances away. The thing is, this pole stands almost side by side to a street lamp and the theory is that when the lamp starts up and during it being on, noise affects the line and hence my speed drops. Were this to be so, what are the chances of TT asking BT open reach to transfer the cable from pole to pole? or is there something else that could be done, if this is considered to be the culprit.

My stats will be continued inc light switch on and made available to TT tomorrow

Does the speed drop at the time the light comes on?
Speeds will tend to drop in the evening anyway as dusk comes on, due to contention issues. if you are not connected to the pole in question then then I don't see how it can affect you.
If the light is faulty and producing some kind of induction interference, it's a job for your LA, not BT OR.
What type of lamp is it?
Do you suddenly get noise/crackling on the line when it lights up? Have you run the BT Quiet Line test (17070, option 2)?

You are at best getting only half the speed you should be with your line attenuation. Looks like TT have capped your speed to improve stability.

PS: how often are you switching the router off and on?-that isn't helping.

I would also suggest looking at router sync speeds rather than speed tests. Whilst speed tests may be an indication of how well the whole connection is working (including the ISP network), it doesn't really add anything to the question you are asking. Sync speeds relate to how well your connection is functioning to the exchange, and exclude any ISP network issues (like bandwidth throttling at peak times).

If you are served from a pole further away from your property then presumably your line existed before the pole opposite your house.... I dont think you could get what you want doing for free....OR are under no obligation to do this work, you could if you were prepared to pay for the work ask for TT to get this arranged for you, but there is also the chance that the pole opposite may not be able to serve you anyway,no spare pairs at that pole for example, and getting TT to agree to raise the order may be tricky given that if OR survey the possibilty of doing this but decide its not practical, a survey fee may be issued to TT just for looking, would you be happy to pay for a 'survey' that may come back as 'sorry no can do '

TT have adjusted my profile to isnr12 but every morning I have an unworkable speed, so reboot the router to get in the region of 2.8mbps, which I would be happy with as long as it were stable. I have no option, but to reboot the router in the mornings or else I wouldn’t have a workable speed.

The pole in question with the street light underneath is the one I am connected too.

I did have a go at that BT quiet line test – dialled the number, however a female recorded voice gave no option to make a selection.

she says, this circuit is designed as *********** (my phone number)

Then that is because your line is a TT LLU one.

You can get a quick and dirty "quiet line test" by simply dialling 0. But this will only last so long until you get some tones to indicate a timeout and that your handset is "on" without a call being made. Should be enough to give an indication though.

Remember - a quiet line test should be made using a corded, analogue phone in the TEST socket (the one behind the master socket faceplate) WITHOUT a filter in place. And the line should be absolutely silent. Any crackles, pops, buzzing etc. means there is a fault, and it should be reported as a VOICE fault to TT.

I far from understand any of the information that has been supplied, I've been guided. Any further information required is beyond my understanding also. Currently TT are making progress (I'm led to believe)
