Reading the manual on-line, it seems compatible with most video formats except for .mkv and .wmv
So the stuff readily available on-line should work quite well including .mpg, .mp4, .avi & .vob0 -
H Sweep9,thank you for your response.Do you have a link for the online manual ?0

There is no information available anywhere in this regards. By trial and error I can tell you that the media player will play avi and mpeg files up to 720p and possible 1080p resolution. However, it will not play divx codec, only xvid codec. There is a very quick fix for this however using a program called avic you can change the header of the file to xvid and effectively trick the media player into playing divx files; just change the file and codec descriptions to xvid. Another problem is that the media player will not play ac3 audio codec. Again the fix is to reincode the audio only of a video file using another free program virtualdub. The biggest problem is the x264(h264) codec which is the most common codec used in HD (720p and 1080p) files particularly in mkv files. The media player does not support these at all. What is needed is a new firmware to support the format.0

I have the same TV and was also trying to watch films using the USB port. This is how I did it. Download "any video converter". You'll need to google this as it won't let me put a link. Add the video and convert to MPEG-I. This is the only one I have tried to convert it to so far, but will try the others to see if the quality changes.
Hope this helps.0
