Have Orange Retentions got stricter or is it still luck of the draw?

For the past two weeks i've been calling Orange hoping they will offer me a deal on the Samsung Galaxy S2 but i've had no luck in persuading them to offer a deal below £35 a month. I've been an Orange customer for 7 years and i'm surprised at how orange have no interest in keeping existing customers. Have they become stricter in offering decent deals?
Also can someone please confirm the number for orange retentions? When i call, i can only get through to orange loyalty.

The best incentives are always reserved for new customers. Ask for your PAC, and you'll be put through to retentions in an instant. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I requested my pac code 2 days ago and they still werent interested in keeping me. The guy on the phone actually told me to move to t-mobile as they have better offers?! Any tips on getting a better deal from them? Should i keep calling them hoping they cave in?0

Sounds like Orange are giving up, like they already have on broadband and landline telephony. I'd vote with your feet once you have your PAC-why stay with a company that doesn't appear to want your business?
Either that or they'd exceeded their retention quotas for that period. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
True. Thanks for the advice. Do you know if any of the providers price match the mobile deals found on affordablemobiles.co.uk?0

Depends if you are a profitable customer or not, how long you have been with them doesn't have much relevance0 -

By profitable do you mean one who has made lots of out of bundle calls, consistently underutilised their monthly allowance or got into an overpriced contract to start with?
Yes - they would be factors - in addition to things like handset costs, the cost to Orange of managing your account (ie do you spend ages on the phone to customer services etc), how you pay your bill, etc etc.0 -
Donut lover, blessing in disguise maybe....
I cant be the only one thats noticed Orange's service has gone down the tubes over the past 12 months!
Try cashback which is upto £160 on some networks at the minute and get a better deal that way :beer:0 -

Firstly, call 150 from your mobile and go through the menu system, eventually choosing the option saying "if you are thinking of leaving Orange", that will get you straight to the retentions team.
We did this last week. We were just out of contract on a £25 a month package which we didn't use a great deal to be honest so we didn't expect a great offer.
We just asked for a PAC code and when asked why said because we wanted to shop around for a Galaxy S2 which they were then showing as unavailable on upgrades.
We were immediately offered a Galaxy S2, which was magically suddenly in stock, on an 18 month deal (expected 24) with 400 xnetwork minutes and free unlimited landlines, texts and 500mb internet for £20 a month (£50 payment for phone).
Was amazed, that was immediate offer with no haggling whatsoever, though I am sure it does depend who you speak to. Just be polite, not aggressive and be prepared to end the call and think about it if the offer is not what you wanted.0
