All sold out in Uxbridge - so not sure if thats working or not!
Great find though! Goodluck to those who manage to get it free! :jIt only takes a moment to say a Thank-You, which goes a long way!0 -
It is totally not theft! Boots are offering it at £0, you accept and the sale goes through - 100% legit.
Shame it doesn't seem to be working, got all excited when I read the thread title lol. Obviously the best thing to do would be to buy it with other items to disguise the 'free'ness :rotfl: and use SS tills. Hope it works again and we can all fill our boots (literally!!!). Mind you, after what they did to foxy-lady I am so angry at them and have hardly set foot in Boots since...

This seems like theft to me.
Whilst I honour your right to an opinion this grabbit board is for exactly what it says - whether it goes through at 1p or zero!!!
Firstly if you feel that way... why post it.. why not just move on and ignore it. We're not here to judge.
Secondly - nearly every post on here could be seen as theft - code combining, using offers only emailed to others etc.
Each to his own opinion but I think they should be kept to yourself as we are not here to judge xx0 -
I'm a police officer, and having heard people throwing the word theft out, in the direction of someone who got an item free from a shop, I thought i'd clear it up for everyone!
THEFT =
A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it.
There are 5 main points to theft, somebody must fulfil all of these points, in order to commit the act of theft.
1. "Dishonestly"
2. "Appropriates"
3. "Property"
4. "Belonging to another"
5. "With the intention of permanently depriving the other of it"
I could go on and on about the individual meanings of these set points above, ie. property has to be something tangeable, belonging to another - it has to have an owner, in this case, Boots.
The OP of the boots, £10.47 sanctuary spa items APPROPRIATED the PROPERTY that was BELONGING TO ANOTHER, and although they had THE INTENTION OF PERMANENTLY DEPRIVING THE OTHER OF IT, ie. was going to buy it to keep, take it and obviously not give it back, THEY DID NOT DISHONESTLY DO THIS!! From the start, the OP attempted to pay for the property, it is BOOTS fault that they had marked it up wrong. The OP did NOT fulfil all 5 points of this criteria and therefore did not commit the act of theft
HOWEVER
If another person now does this, having read this, it is very fine lined as to whether thye would not commit theft, because they know about this problem and therefore they will be DISHONESTLY APPROPRIATING the PROPERTY with THE INTENTION OF PERMANENTLY DEPRIVING THE OTHER OF IT.
You could now therefore be charged with theft - even though you went in with your money - because of your dishonest intent!!
If anyone wants any more info, or in the future is worried about doing any of this, feel free to message me jonarna at hotmail dot com - and I will help you to the best of my law knowledge!0 -

Alright Jo. Thing about this though is you would have to get through me first. I work at a police HQ in the control room. If Boots called me and advised someone had scanned an item and left the store and they wanted them arrested for theft, I'd tell them to do one ; ) I would not resource a police officer to this and with the budget cuts coming in I probably wouldnt have a free officer to send anyway.0 -
Vik, I totally agree, as I was saying to Jess, theoretically, you could be charged with theft BUT you would need to prove that, having read this, the person went out and then committed theft, by dishonestly knowing etc etc - which they could not prove unless someone commented/posted that they were going to do it, then it was verified by us etc.. the fact of the matter is, the person wouldnt get charged!! And even if by some miracle they did, they def would not get taken to court, would be threw straight out by CPS.
For someone to pipe up that others are theives, or along them lines is sick. The fact is, THEM SAME PEOPLE ARE ON HERE FOR THE SAME REASON WE ARE = BARGAINS!! Most are hypocrites, i'm pretty sure them same people have been using info they find on here to "COMMIT THEFT" themselves.. so put a sock in it!!
PS. I popped back over to tesco last night and found a beautiful pair of smart brown trousers - £1.75 after all the discounts, which was clearly wrong, but I paid, i didnt dishonestly do anything and I certainly wasnt going to run to the store manager to ask them to add an extra £5 to my bill for their error!! Will show you them when I see you Vik xx0 -
Think I must have been one of the last to pick one up today... Perth, Scotland store had a shelf full and it scanned through at 0.00
