hi, im going to las vegas for 16 nights and im a bit of a gambler so that i dont over spend i decided to set a standing order to an account i have acess too, like $600 per day. i was thinking about getting a prepay visa or mastercard or just using my barclays visa card. does anyone know which one would be the better idea bearing in mind if i dont spend all the money will i have big penalties to pay if i want to rechange my $$ to ££ on the pre pay cards when i return to the uk?
also if i set up a daily direct debit to a prepaid card, would it hit the account the same day or will it take a little longer.
im thinking maybe my barclays visa debit would be as good as anything. any ideas and thanks for taking the time to read!

remember that you will be charged by the ATM a flat fee for each withdrawal...ATMs in most casinos run about $4.99...you can find cheaper (Casino Royale, for example)...but taking a withdrawal a day will mean a fee paid to the ATM a day (in addition to any fee your card issuer will charge).
Your debit card will no doubt have a daily withdrawal limit anyway (all of ours are £300/day). I'm being lazy in not checking the travel money maximizer to see how yours compares in terms of rates and fees.
We would never go to Vegas without having a few days spending and gambling money in our pocket in cash...for us, it would be just about the worst place in the world to find ourselves unable to make a withdrawal for some reason (card issues, loss of card, wanting to withdraw more and not being able to as the banking day has not ticked over in the UK).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Yea good point, if i cant get money coz of the time difference, that would be bad. maybe im best using my barclay debit card and putting a £1000 floater in the account as well as having the $600 a day transfered in. and mebs take $700 in cash for emergancy too. i just dont want to have a few too many drinks and blow my whole life savings haha. 10 pints and all bets are off :-)
thanks for the advice!:beer:0 -
