Santander eSaver

I too am still able to use my A/L Log In details to access my Santander accounts including a new eSaver 3 Account.
Does the A&L login give you the option to add a new payee for the e-Saver? It didn't for me, and I didn't have any existing payees set up, hence needed a new Santander login before I could make a withdrawal.0 -

You can only apply online for the Santander esaver account and link it to an existing card and therefore ATMs and online banking if your card starts with one of the 6 number combinations listed.
I've had this same account for 22 years starting with Girobank then Alliance and Leicester and now Santander but my Visa Debit card number doesn't start with any of the listed combinations. The only way to open an esaver account is to telephone and have it non-linked which means that I wouldn't be able to adequately manage the two accounts. I tried entering my card number on the esaver application but all that happened is that I was logged out and after logging in again I had to start the application process where I left off at the card number entering stage.
Here is where the silliness kicks in: The funds in my Santander current account are increasing to the point where I need to move some funds to a savings account. But to get a savings account which I will be able to manage properly I have to take my business to a different bank and probably outside the Santander group! Then I'll have my current account at Santander and my savings account elsewhere!0 -
After reading several postings on this forum about Santander, I've decided to abandon my new eSavings account before I deposit any funds. There must be another online instant access account with better customer service paying around 3% ?
There's the Coventry Online E-Saver issue 2 paying 3.15% (only allowed 4 penalty free withdrawals a year though).
Or the ING Direct Savings account paying 3.1% (Not protected by the FSCS scheme though)
Or the Post Office Online Saver paying 3.1%
or the Principality BS ESaver paying 3.01%...Making Money :cheesy:
Even if it's not your fault, it's your responsibility.0 -
Depending on how the account will be used, could also look at Monmouthshire BS flexible saver @4% - really intended as a regular saver, but quite flexible over deposits and allows up to 4 withdrawals a year.0

I opened a Santander eSaver account online without any problem at all. I wasn't an existing customer. I was given a sort code and account number virtually instantly and all the login requirements for both online and telephone banking were sent in the post a few days later. Nothing about card numbers anywhere.0

There is the Skipton Online Bonus Saver @ 3.05%. http://www.skipton.co.uk/savings_and_investments/e-savings/online_bonus_saver/
Their online service is very good.0
