Debt free for a year & have saved a nice emergency fund & stoozing away on 0% purchases at the moment, I have an aversion to paying interest now lol, wish I had learnt that lesson 10 years ago, good luck

Ooh I need this inspiration today!!

    I will:

Go on a huge holiday to South Africa and take the bf to see his best buddy who lives there (I call him the ex wife!)
Start saving for the wedding of my dreams
Save for a house or buy the one we are renting as we love it
Have babies because we can afford them :D
Begin thoughts of setting up my own creative business including weddings (I freaking love weddings!)

    Then live happily ever after

As for framing you bank statement I have above my desk my first debt paid in full and account closed which I have had hanging over my head since I was 18... The new look store card *shudder* but yay it's gone!!!
Life is too short not to love what you do.

Try an remain debt free, is my goal. In some ways, i am debt free, but techically i don't regard myself as debt free, until i've bought back all my items which still belong to the pawn shop. My target, was this summer, but its been moved to the end of the year again. Hummph. When i've bought everything back, then i'll be debt free. Maybe i should just forget about them, although its all personal stuff, like my mums wedding ring, etc. The things you have to do, sometimes..............

What will i do, when i'm debt free? Very little. I'd like a few days at the seaside, as i ,too, have'nt had a holiday, in years.
I've no plans to change my car, even though its older then yours, kjsmith7. When my car expires, then i do.

Hmmm, what a sad life, i lead.
Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

  • we cleared our debt last Oct - we still don't live a wildly extravagant lifestyle! So far we have been to Morocco - paid for in cash, oh bought a 2nd hand car, we still go on sun bargain hols - in fact we're going on one next week! We are saving to go to Brasil at the end of the year - flights are ridicously expensive. I have set up "pot" for saving for regular items- xmas, birthdays, car, emergencies. We're careful but can afford to do the things we want to, its nice now after several years of going without x

I am just about to get paid and for the first time in 10 years my account will be in the black all month until my next payday. I worked out that I have been living in my overdraft for almost 10 years....

I had the overdraft limit reduced from 1000 to 500 this weekend and I plan on removing the facility in July..

Therefore June payday I will be:

    - paying for my creamfields ticket
    - putting £300 into savings

    In July's payday I will be ..

    - Doing up the bathroom
    - Having the back fence turned into a gate so we can park there
    - put my second £300 lump sum into savings.

No plans for August yet except £400 lump sum into savings.

I also plan to put anything over 0 the day before my next payday into savings...

To the op that said get the garden turfed..i have just done one of my lawns from scratch using grass seed..it cost me £45 and it is ten times better everyone who passes comments on the lawn..it took some prep but the reward is well worth it...quote for turf was £425...no brainer..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
