I'm not saying what I would do but you spouted a load rubbish and I quote
Youre supposed to inform your insurance company of any incident, whether claiming or not.
Its in your terms and conditions, all ins. companies use a central national database, which is why they have been able to get hold of you.
Its just as well you havent made a claim in the meantime, they could have invalidated it because you broke the contract with them by
not informing them.
So by that the number plate incident should have still been reported to the insurers, your making out like its a big issue not calling the insurer yet you then advise against it to another poster, it makes no sense, its one or the other. Proper advice and what you personally or what I would personally do are two different things. We all know YOU SHOULD tell the insurer but most of us won't as it can be dealt with there and then.
As for whether or not I personally call the insurers totally depends on the situation and how much its going to cost, anything under £500 I would just deal with it as my excess is near the £500 mark, but thats not my advice just what I would do.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

All you have to do is look at your terms and conditions.
Okay, Scenario
You have a bump, it costs the other person £300 to mend his car, you pay it, fine.
Not sure how many years the injured party has to claim but it is a few.
1 year later they decide to go to their insureres with some sort of convoluted PI story, his insurers contact your insurers, 'We dont know anything about this bump' in the meantime, you have an even bigger bump, kill somebody, or main 4 passengers etc both cars ruined, Your
insurer will invalidate your cliam because you broke your contract by not informing them, you end up bankrupt because these people sue you personally for thousands upon thousands. You'll find it very difficult to get any insurance anywhere after that. I really am surprised at the ignorance of these rules and people who dont read the small print.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Same could be said over a £10 number plate.:p0 -
So what your saying is then your advice over the number plate could cause someone to loose their home and their wife lol.
Insurers will leave a claim open for 12 months if notified about it. If the other person with an injury goes to make a claim in say 18 months then they are going to be in just as much !!!! as myself as they wouldn't of notified there insurer either, if they had my insurance would have contacted me!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Well, I'll speak to my insurers on monday and see whats going on.
Like I said, the other party did promise to phone me to let me know if they intended to claim but they didnt.
Bet I'm not the only person whos ever not told their insurer. For instance, wife reversed car into garage door and damaged bumper - I'm hardly gonna phone insurance company am I?0 -
They'll have been asked to contact you to take a statement, because they have now received claims from the other party, and you've not reported it. Simple as that.0

Depends what is behind, in front of the number plate too - somebodies legs;)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

And or they are looking to rebuke or reduce their liability under the claim and want to know your side of the story.
We had one of ours bumped and the assessor for the other party came for a look to make sure it was damaged as stated."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
