So, has anyone bought their forzen turkey yet?
Or are you getting a fresh one?
Where can we get one for the best value of money?
I think last year, I bought a 4kg frozen turkey from somerfield around £7(promotion).
Thanks!

Hi weeMe,
You should get more help with this on the Christmas board so I'll move your thread over there.

Hi,
I bought a Fresh Turkey Breast Joint from Lidl £2.99. It's Huge, did 2 of us 2 big eve meals & 2 lots of sarnies. Very good quality I ususally get mine from M&S it's about £7 for same size. Only thing no precise cooking instructions but it's pretty straight forward- I did mine in my steamer from frozen in 1 1/2 hours, veyr tender. I've bought another now for the Big Day itself!! Merry Christmas to you All

we have ordered a fresh one from makro cos there is no way I'd be able to fit a frozen one in my freezer!
5-5.4kg for £15.57 with a free bottle of bubbly!0 -
Hmm.. I did consider that as an option, to make it easier for myself this year. But then I love the turkey soup that you can make with the 'left-over' turkey bones and bits!twinklybev wrote:Hi,

I bought mine over a month ago from Lidl. It's about 8lb in weight and cost about £6. Luckily I have a 20 cuft freezer plus a fridge freezer as there is also a goose, lobster, crab, prawns, smoked salmon, 2 gateaux, 2 huge joints of beef plus all the usual food for the month plus a weeks supply of bread and milk in there too.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

not sure that cheapest is really best value for money.... We used to have cheap and nasty, but had a nice fresh bronze turkey last year and it's a *lot* nicer.
If you could find a nice bronze turkey for a few pounds more it would be money better spent.
It is Christmas after all
