Hi Guys,
I’m soon to me made redundant and although Martin may not approve – have booked a three-week hol for the wife and myself in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
Question: Not sure what currency to take - Is it ok just to take USDollars with us?
Thanks.

Thailand use baht and baht only best best way of doing it now as atm fees are high in thailand is for you to take cash but you may not want ,so best to take large denomination sterling tc's for thailand as you get charged per tc ,but only somthing like 40p .The rate for changing them are good and way better than you get over here .
For cambo and Vietnam I would take a prepaid card unless you already have halifax clarity or santander zero card(maybe fair fx anywhere crad do not get dollar card) You go to the atm and draw dollars and you will get master card or visa rate .in Cambodia some atm's charge but canidia bank do not or did not last time .Same with Vietnam some atms may charge but have I not been for years but atm is the way to go also, just find the ones that are free so anz bank probaly charge as they do in cambodia, so look at other banks or ask on trip advisor .Use US dollars for big purchases riel and dong for smaller .it esay to know the rates but best to think in dollars .I think vietnam uses it's own currency more than it use to you may even be able to get dong from atms now as well .0 -
Baht for Thailand, USD for the other two.0

Don't change money into riel (the Cambodian currency) as soon as you arrive in the country - dollars can be used for nearly all purchases, and you get given change in riel for any amounts less than a dollar. You soon build up any riel you need for small purchases this way.
Note that they are fussy about the condition of US dollars - the slightest rip or tattiness and they might refuse it, whereas the riels can be as filthy and battered as anything!
If you go to Thailand first, then Cambodia, there's no need to get rid of your baht before you cross the border, as the baht is also widely accepted in Cambodia.0
