Advice on buying a new boiler please.....

There's plenty of good arguments for installing a combi in larger homes. Just put in a larger boiler. A 37 Kw or a 42kW combi provides loads of hot water.
Theres also the alternative of a storage combi where the boiler comes with a hot water cylinder (small one) and combined with the boiler output can give excellent flow rate for long enough for 2 showers at the one time.
When the combi is installed you are removing many components that can give problems and cause expense over the years. eg cold water storage, hot water cylinder, feed and expansion tank, motorised valves, external circulation pump.
If all these things are nearing the end of their life a combi could eaily be considerably cheaper.
Once the first combi is installed its a straight forward job for subsequent boiler changes in 10 - 15 years time0
