thanks to everyone that replied.
I went with Vidahost in the end - great price and I've been extremely impressed with the service so far. Any tech query I've had has been responded to in minutes, even on weekends.0 -
I am looking for a webhost with good customer service?
Godaddy customer service is the best I have dealt with so far. I have all my domains through oneandone and use godaddy for hosting now.
I did use oneandone for the whole lot but you can get better packages for hosting with godaddy for cheaper!! Oneandone use indian call centres fro tech support 99% of the time and its just a nightmare trying to get info or a problem resolved.
Godaddy use an american call centre but you call a UK number. I have called them up twice now for support mainly because they do things differently to oneandone so I couldn't find the stuff I was used to finding on oneandone. The support they offered was top notch and nothing was too much trouble.
One thing I will say about godaddy is don't buy your 12 months hosting straight off, pay monthly. You will then get some good discount emails which can use for purchasing anything from them. I got 12 months hosting for £50 using the discount codes they provided. I have had zero downtime over the last 6 months aswell. That said oneandone had only ever had one issue in the 5 years I hosted with them and the site was back up and running within 24 hours.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Personally - I don't like to buy my domains from where I'm going to be hosting them....
The reason is - that if the host goes down for an extended period, I can just pop into where I have the domain and change the DNS settings to a new host.
Whereas if the host was down and my domain was with them - I would be stuck!!
I used to use 1and1 - But I now buy most of my domains from namecheap.com
I have one with godaddy, but I was put off from giving that guy more of my cash when I saw his holiday video killing an elephant ... just a personal choice not to go with them again.0 -

GoDaddy is a bad company, really bad. Had awful experience with them couple of years ago... They treat customers like cattle and dirt. Lost my domains with them, ordered bunch of domains for auto blogging, did some PR and then they took them all back. Hate them so hard:mad:Late in the room:beer:0 -
They also kill elephants for fun - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1372007/Is-worst-branding-GoDaddy-boss-Bob-Parsons-filmed-shooting-elephant-Zimbabwe-villagers-wearing-company-logo-hack-carcass-Bob-Parsons.htmlFelishaWoodson wrote: »GoDaddy is a bad company, really bad. There are a lot of places to choose from (WebHostingGeeks have a nice list, you must google them yourself since I'm not allowed to post links yet), so instead of recommending you a provider, I'll tell you who to steer clear of: Mochahost.
Seriously, whatever you do, NEVER EVER have anything to do with them. Their customer service is not only useless but insulting, they're known to send automated e-mails saying that your problems are solved BEFORE they've even looked at them and they'll also try to trick you into upgrading to a more expensive plan any chance they get, saying that the magical solution to your problem is only available for VPS customers and stuff like that. Don't take my word for it, google them and see the reviews. I have seen very few companies with so much negative feedback as them in my life.0 -
I mentioned the Elephant killing - but couldn't post a link cos I'm new here

LOL - couldn't even quote with the link in the message...haha
I have found namecheap to be very reliable and also have good customer service when I had a problem.0
