Switching to mains gas from LPG

Hi
when I purchased my house the gas supply was a calor gas LPG tank which I have continued to use. I have an exclusivity contract with calor which has one year left but have now found that there is mains gas in all my neighbours houses, so I would like to switch to mains gas. Do I have to wait for the contract to expire or does the exclusivity apply to only LPG suppy and not to mains gas? and would I have to pay to have the bulk tank removed as it is owned by calor?

Presumably your contract doesn't stipulate the amount of LPG you must use?

If you went abroad for a year for instance and used no LPG, could they do anything?

So if you got mains gas and didn't get any more LPG until your contract ended - what would be the problem?

I believe that the "exclusivity contract" basically means that as Calor owns the tank you are tied into obtaining your LPG from them alone. They can not stop you from installing other forms of heating.

I would look into mains gas and see how long it will be before the mains gas supply will be connected. Try to ensure you use up your remaining LPG to coincide with this time. No idea if you will have to pay for removal of the tank though.

Wish I could get mains gas.
