Love Film Rental Queue Deleted

Our "three months for the price of one if you'll only reactivate your account" offer came to an end on 30th December. We sent our final two DVD's back on 23rd December and when I rang up midweek to cancel was told the account wouldn't be cancelled until they received their discs back. They've shifted the billing date to tomorrow (2nd Jan), but as of the moment the discs are still showing as on loan. I've reported the DVD's as missing, but have a horrible sinking feeling that they're going to charge me for another months rental tomorrow (after which the discs will miraculously appear).

Two explanations come to mind - either a huge backlog of DVD's received back on 27th, 28th and 29th, with those received first ending up at the bottom of a very large pile, or, with my cynical head on, they're using their own system as a way of squeezing an extra month's membership fee out of people whose offers are coming to an end.

I've checked out online reviews and I'm certainly not the only one this has happened to recently. I'm just hoping that the account will show the discs returned tomorrow. Is there any way I can get out of being charged for another month if the discs don't show as returned?

I was with the excellent Screenselect for a couple of years after moving to them from the cr*p LoveFilm so, like most here, I was sad to see ScreenSelect swallowed up by them.

I'm currently trialling BlockBuster for a month and they've been really good so far with quick turnaround and I actually got to watch new releases over Xmas with them - LoveFilm sent me 4 movies from the dregs at the bottom of my queue as usual (must tidy it up a bit). Also I've had a fair few damaged LoveFilm disks both this time and the previous time. A tip though - wash them in luke warm water with a little drop of washing up liquid and dry them with a soft cloth and it often corrects the problem - I'm sure it will be scorned on by DVD experts but even a small fingerprint on a DVD can cause a disappointing night.

I was with Sainsbury's who were taken over by Lovefilm. Huge deterioration in service. Haven't had anything from the top of my list in a good while. They receive discs back and don't send new ones for a couple of days. The ones I sent back before Christmas don't seem to have gotten there although they seem to have sent more (hence the 6). I wonder if they maybe were busy and didn't have time to check in the returned ones??

I was with Blockbuster way back, so am waiting on a 'come back to us' offer and then I will jump ship.

Re Lovefilm losing track of what discs I had at home. Yesterday, my rental list was corrected to show what I actually have.

I'm still planning to give it another month or two then cancel my membership.

That's it! I've finally had enough of Tesco DVD rental! I was happy with them until Lovefilm got involued!

They sent me the SAME broken DVD 3 times!!! :mad: So I've signed up to mymoviestream.. kicked myself for forgetting Quidco though! :rolleyes:
