apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but couldn't see it...
At first they were pretty good. Then they started taking over every other rental service in the world and things started to go pear shaped. The deliveries got slower... and then last week they DELETED MY RENTAL QUEUE!
There were 40 titles listed... and then suddenly they'd all gone. Emailed asking them what had happened and could they retrieve it... got a cr*ppy useless response back saying 'you're not receiving DVDs because your rental list is empty'. YES I KNOOOOOOOW!
Massive thanks to the person who posted the phone numbers... Just gave them a call to be told there'd been a system problem and I would have to put all the titles back in myself. When i asked for compensation for what would be at least an hour's work, I was told: I can move your direct debit date two days later so you get two days free. RUBBISH.
Are there any good rental services out there that haven't been taken over by this monolith?

bockbusters are much better im with lovefilm till end of the month their service is appalling and i for one will tell them to shove it.Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

I was with Tesco til Lovefilm took over and service went crap. I've cancelled and then got an offer of 3 months free today. Signed up on the basis that Hey its free! but will cancel before I have to pay for it.
I figure they owe me the free months to make up for how crap they were when I was with Tesco.
I'm with Blockbuster now by the way - top service and worth every penny.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
I've found that the Lovefilm service has deteriorated since it was rebranded from Screenselect.
Certainly the turnaround has been noticeably slower than before, with it often taking a couple of days to send new discs after previous ones were returned. I can't blame the Christmas post as the web site often shows 'awaiting allocation'. I have 30-odd discs in my queue, which seems more than reasonable to me.
This weekend things have gone from annoying to plain weird. I currently have three discs at home. I'm not sure whether the third one has been sent because of the supposedly free offer of an extra disc over Christmas, or as the replacement for a damaged disc, which is what it is.
Now when I check the site it says I have no discs at home, but need to return the faulty one, which would have been in the post on Wednesday.
Has anyone else found that their queue is intact but their list of currently rented discs has vanished?0 -
No problems with my rental queue but definately had problems. I was invited back for 9.99 pounds first payment being taken out in February. No they took it straight away which annoyed me no end. Also the turnaround is horrendous i have had 2 films in 3 weeks they are terrrible.
Blockbuster were much better and far more organised. I will not be continuing with them. You never receive the latest releases you ask for. They ask you to put so many discs on your queue coz they dont want to give you the latest first. I noticed this the first time I was with them.
I didnt get the extra disc over xmas for some unknown reason although they promised they will send it. Yeh right. I wait with bated breath......0 -
I have to agree Tesco/Lovefilm are rubbish! I returned a disc to them unplayable..they only sent me the SAME disc as a replacement!! They moved my payment date back 1 week! Wow wee!! As you say they are loads slower now too.
I was considering Moviestream but I'll check blockbusters out as so many of you are with them!!
Oh and just to add I currently have 6 discs showing out to me when 3's my max! They haven't a clue! Even when I rate movies they are unrated when I next log in!!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

the quality of a lot of lovefilm dvds is terrible half of the ones i was sent are that scratched they wont play or jump0

Mine went exactly the same just before xmas - I've also had issues of dvds dropping out of my queue, not all just two or three here and thereI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
i was with tescos and i was very happy with the service then i noticed that they had changed to love film, i was worried about this as i had heard the bad service that people have recieved from them on this website, i must admit that the quality of the disks is not as good, had one which struggled to play the other day, i am seriously considering cancelling tescos (which is a shame as they were very good) and changing perhaps to blockbuster, are tescos (now lovefilm) easy to cancel as i have read other postings where people have had real trouble cancelling there account with lovefilm?
thanks

I think you just have to make sure you get your discs back and request list empty before you next payment date!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092
