Virgin,a slight change in sevices,another 12 month contract!

I've just been looking into the possibility of changing from Virgin to Sky and I was told,even though we've been with Virgin for 12 years,because we had an additional multi room box fitted in December,we automatically added another 12 months to our original contract and can't leave until December 2011,can they do this? I don't remember hearing anything like that before.

When you arranged the multi room, were you sent any T&C's?

I know that when I went to HD that tied me in for a year, but it was clearly stated, and I knew it would happen, before I agreed the upgrade.

Not that I'm aware of,I'll ask my wife when she comes in.

I've spoke to my wife and she said we did,I must read the small print in future.

It doesn't actually say anything about entering into another contract though,only that we had seven days to cancel.

VM have always done this, it is in the T&C's and is a regular topic on here.
What they don't do is remind you about this when you call up to change your package.
