*The only positive about moving is we would have a little extra money so we could afford to take our children to their Great ormond street appointments
.*
so what do you do now then?
Sorry, just seemed an odd statement and i have only just woken up..(lay in, my 4 are away for the weekend!!)
fwiw, when my daughter was back n forth to GOS and Guys, at the very start when my husband was made redundant, i am sure we had help financialy to get to her appointments. Might be worth asking (this was about 8 years ago though)
House wise. Stay put. You have security. Save and extend.0 -
Stay put, you can reject any offer under the asking price. If you do have a 12 week clause before you can withdraw from the EA agreement then just make your house as unattractive of possible and point out all the negatives and forget all the positives.0

Avoid paying. Wait out the 12 weeks. Perhaps demand 20K is added to the asking price (to deter viewers) and if the EA has any clue they will discharge you.
Tell any viewers than it has been a few years since you have suffered any major floods and you think that the subsidence has stopped.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

In the past few years we have just saved hard to take one of our daughter's to GOSH. Only 1 is seen under NHS - our local NHS refuse to refer the other 2 - long story but I have fought as hard as I could.
They wont let us stay at the patient hotel anymore as apparently they have very strict criteria for it now.
If we stay put - every single penny of anything we could save would have to go on the extension so we wouldn't ever have spare to go to GOSH.
We just had the formal offer through the post - house was valued at £77 000 (even though a few bits need done) and they have offered £74 000 but we have to fix the water tank.
We are going to be thinking hard about this. There are obviously pros and cons to both.:jDebt free from 2010:j(except for mortgage lol)0 -
Where do you live?
I not sure what social houising is like where you are, here it is like rocking horse poop! doesn't happen. Making yourself homeless would put you in a whole new heap of problems.
What you are suggesting is daft really...BUT You sound really desperate.I remember only too well what it felt like having one child with special needs and health problems...the battle to try and get the best care for her.. I also remember being desperate and very down..i would have tried anything to make things better.
You are a mum you would chop your own arm off if there was even the slightest spec of hope something may help!
Your mortgage is tiny. you are safe and secure. You sell up. private renting will cost a fortune...if you can even get private as you are on benefits...you sell up and go to the council, they will say you had a house, you sold it.
Stay put.
Make the most of room you have.
On Ebay you can buy tripple bunks (i have them,i have step children also...bought them to make max use of space until we move), that and a single would use space to its max potential.
Not ideal but you could then have you in one room, kids in the other.
Then save slowly. Put money in an account, when GOSH trips are needed use it for that and just keep saving for an extension.
How old are your kids?
Lol my partner and i both already have children when we got together and they mostly live with us. We have been living with 6 children in a 3 bed house for the last year whilst we got the house ready for sale and then getting it on the market. I have used every inch of this place to accomodate everything lol...it can be manic but its been ok. We are about to exchange and are about 2 weeks away from moving and talking to the kids about bedrooms now they have the chance to have their own room (well some of them..its got 5 beds) the prospect of having their own room and not being with their siblings is daunting!
Only the nearly 12 year old is over the moon about it :P
I feel guilty about having them all squeezed in for the last year, but it they quite like it.
Don't loose your security,it's hard in this day to own your own property and unless your situation changes you won't get the chance again.
As for GOSH how about looking into what help you could get with travel. Family fund can help. Not sure about any others though.0 -
you will be making yourself intentionally homeless and the council will have no duty of care whatsoever.....stay put..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

Not true. In reality this doesn't happen. I live fairly close to the OP and a neighbour of mine sold her house and as soon as she had a move out date was considered homeless by the council and housing associations.
She was allocated a brand new 3 bed semi (with dining room, front and back garden to be maintained by the council for the first year, very subsidised rent etc etc) that was ready in time for her to move straight from one to the other. I had always been made aware in council literature and from supporting other people in their appointments that selling up would make you intentionally homeless but I have seen for myself this is not the case in reality. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Don'y move it really isnt worth the risk.0

i will guarantee you will not get away with it here in Cheshire as i know someone who handed keys back before repo and council wiped their hands even after a shelter submission. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
