Hi,

For example autoglass repairs windscreens for free if you have fully comprehensive car insurance?

Is there national companies out there that does a similar service for deep scratches, dents or scuffs?

Or is my own insurance company obliged to carry out the work for free.

I dont want to pay £250 insurance excess to repair a deep scratch and a minor scuff.

thanks,

Even if so, it does not affect your no claims bonus means in Plain English, get ready for a massive "PREMIUM" increase next year.

The only reason insurance companies pay for free chip repair is that untreated chips could turn into cracked windscreens which can cost hundreds to replace.

Repairing scratches and minor dents to the bodywork is part of the expenses of running a car.

a local company of the type of dentmaster can come out and repair minor dents and scuffs
but they cant guarantee everything is repairable at your door for obvious reasons

why not get a quote at a local independent recommended bodyshop

The cost of repairing minor damage will probably be lower than the excess which you would have to pay, even if they agreed a valid claim.
Even if the cost exceeds the excess, it would go down on your file as a claim which you would have to declare at renewal, and would mean future insurance becomes much more expensive.

You can get minor damage policies normally linked to the SMART (Small and Medium Repair Techniques) paint and dent technicians. There's one which I think allows you a few fixes per year.

i just over heard a phone converation that the caller they got their minor car bodywork problems repaired free under their fully comprehensive insurance.

So i was curios and asked the question here cause i have fully comprehensive insurance. And the autoglass advert makes the curiosity even more.

I bet people did not know about free windscreen repairs for fully comp insurance customers people before that advert came out.

so i thought there could be a similar service for minor bodywork.

I guess it depends on how much you read the small print, if you are not old and jaded like me - windscreen repairs have been free for years as was replacement some years back. A new windscreen doesn't normally affect your no claims either (allegedly).

The reason for the XS on your policy and no claims allowance is to make you think twice about things like this.

Insurance premiums are bad enough don't give em any more ideas to increase them.

I think someone was winding you up.
